I was out jogging again tonight. It wasn’t cold, only -8 degrees, so no suffering and no whining.
Only problem is that I can’t run properly, the snow is too loose, and the cold does take a toll. So it’s just a slow jog. Not good for the ego, but it’s not my ego that I’m exercising.
I met the fox again. This time he (she?) was in the forest, where foxes are supposed to be, about 60 m ahead of me. Studied me for a few seconds, crossed the road and disappeared.
I soon left the well-lit road through the forest and jogged in the dark. In fact, it wasn’t really dark. I could see fine. There was light reflected from the clouds above, and the snow outlined the path.
I had no problem finding the way, but after a while I started to notice that there were no one else around. Not safe – so instead of turning around and rund back the same way as I’d planned, I made for the streets on the other side of the forest. It was much shorter, and the safer option, but it meant that I had to continue on a longer route to get home, or chicken out of it and take the bus – which would be even safer. Having options is good.
I met a doe on the way. She was crossing a residential street. Looked young. We studied each other, not staring too hard, and then we went on. She to the trees, I down the street. Nice.
I didn't have to take the bus, and that was nice too.
