A tale of 2 parkruns

Woke to wet windy weather this morning, checked and parkrun wasn't cancelled which means the sea didn't sweep stones over the prom, good news. Daughter is working today so collected granddaughter and off we went to Worthing! Ah, can't park at gym and neither of us have enough change for parking so we turned round and went to Lancing 😀 our local parkrun and glad we did. There was water laying across the green and not so many people there this morning. We squelched across the grass and off!! A nice warm up walk, bit of running, more squelching.

The rain came down the slight breeze was behind us, we ran, we walked, we dodged puddles, a couple of times I hopped over the fence and ran along the stones at the top of the beach and we thanked all the Marshall's for standing around in the cold and wet just to clap and cheer us all on. It wasn't fast but it wasn't my slowest, my granddaughter pulled away near the end so I slowed to take some photos of her running towards the funnel. She was a few seconds off a PB and so proud.

We went back to the gym where we found a parking space, went and showered, sat in the steam room, lay on hot benches and finished up in the sauna. Our reward.

Home again and food!

Run happy everyone and be proud that you can xx

Thanks and it was needed, we were cold and wet at the end, next time I'll take dry socks and shoes though, they weren't fun to put back on

What a great way to finish a parkrun Sue! It sounds as if wellies wouldn’t have been out of place at your local! Well done to your granddaughter’s nearly PB , on a better day I’m sure she’ll smash it!

Thanks, yes wellies would have kept our feet dry. I've no doubt if my granddaughter keeps it up she'll soon be under 30 minutes, her legs go on forever

It wasn't that cold but it was wet and windy, today was worse, I looked out the window and thought, not today. Went to the beach later though

Thanks 😁 yes she was brilliant, the last time we went just before my op we'd sat in the beach and daughter was paddling before she finished, mins you, I saw her today and she said everything aches 😂 but she seems to have got the running bug
