Tell me about your Sports Massage…did it help?🤔🤞

I had a check in with my physio today, as I recover from my upper hamstring injury. I am now back running 5K but not completely better and still feeling some tightness in my hip/glute area.

My physio has suggested I have a sports massage, to see if some of this residual tightness can be released. She has recommended a colleague of hers - apparently a runner herself and has also been a Team GB Triathlete!🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ I hope she’s as good as she sounds (have booked in to see her next Wednesday) but I just wondered what the experiences of folk on here are with Sports Massage? What to expect, did it hurt (I’m told it can…in a good way!🤣😉) and most importantly- did it help?🙏🤞🙂

I've never had a sports massage, I've heard they are amazing though 😁

Hello... I have only had massage for specific issues so cannot comment on a Sports Massage. I do know that for the injury and recovery period they were extremely effective! x

My wife is trained in massage/sports massage although not practicing at the minute due to the kids.

When I break myself, she fixes it. But, by heck does it hurt!

I've had plenty as I usually have one for specific niggles, plus always at least every 4 weeks when doing long runs. It can hurt like hell (I keep asking for gas and air, but it never arrives 🤣). It really does help get rid of the knots. I also use an ice bath. That can also make you squeal for the first minute, great for reviving tired muscles though.(The things we do for exercise!)

🍏 I have had several while recovering from Sciatica last year & together with specific exercises relieved the pain and got me moving again. My therapist was kind! She started gently and gradually increased the pressure. Definitely worked at the time plus monthly maintenance for a few months. I would go back in a heartbeat!
