Commemorating the run I didn’t run in Leeds

Yesterday I came back from a 3-day work trip from Leeds.

I had my shoes packed, my running gear ready and my Leeds Music playlist all ready to go. But the heat and a bad night, with something that I can only assume was an allergic reaction to some gluten I unwittingly ate, resulted in only a lot of walking, but no running or jeffing.

So back home, and after a solid night of sleep, I took out my running kit, and jeffed to a happy playlist full of music artists from Leeds. And although I was more out of breath than usual, it also felt better than usual.

So what my experience told me was:

- I find it easier to keep up my daily running patterns when at home

- a good night sleep is essential for my running

- I might just not be the person who can easily run when travelling

So I’m in awe of all you run-tourists, and although I will continue to pack my running gear, it might just not be me. But hoping that it’s another learnable skill, rather than a character trait.

But I enjoyed my “home run” this morning immensely, so it’s all good.

My Spotify music playlist I used is at spotify.link/jd3GcoMaWCb

Happy running, everyone!

Sorry you didn’t feel well. I know with gluten taken unexpectedly or in a dish that has it my stomach hurts like mad. Hot water bottle or pad. You might have been ok to run if that hadn’t happened to you. You should give it another chance. Glad your better today and you enjoyed your run. 🙂

Thank you! 😊

That is such dedication - curating a play list in that way! Terrific that you got to run in Leeds-away-from-Leeds!

Thank you, although I have to admit Spotify makes it easy. But it was good to have a Leeds playlist joining me on my trip. 👍🏽

🍏 🤗 Sorry about the allergic reaction while you were away.. not pleasant at all. What a lovely home run & some interesting lessons learned. Sometimes when we are away from our own beds, we don’t sleep as well & I too don’t run well after a bad night. It could be a one off, so yes pack your gear next time. You may just want it!

👍🏽 Definitely. And there is the added issue that I have fallen out of “travelling practice”, post-Covid. Running gear will definitely be packed next time!

Ouch, gluten can be nasty stuff and you dont need much for a reaction, great you got out when home and well again 😊
