Finally enticed to the dark side!!

It was SueAppleRun's last post that did it . The 'Last shoe I promise' post you finally enticed me to the dark side. So yesterday, I drove to our small boutiquey running shop that just sells running shoes. I took my Asics Nimbus 24 size 8 along to show what I had been wearing and walked out with these 3 beauties. Meet On Cloudmonster, Brooks Ghost 15 and Saucony Ride 16. I had told my wife that I was just going to pop down there for sizing and a bit of window shopping. Hahahahaha window shopping is impossible when it comes to running shoes. If you walk through the door, you seldom leave empty handed. So I have 3 new pairs which indeed I can rotate. I have read this is a good thing as especially the midsole can recover better when the shoe isn't used all the time. This piece of valuable piece of scientific knowledge was of course massively poo pooed by my wife. Anyway it's Brooks for Park Runs as they are a great allrounder, Saucony for 2-5km road runs as I have had Saucony for the last 5-7 years and they are always great..and On Cloudmonster for 5-10km road runs as they literally are like running on Clouds. Going for my first run in about 10 mins...Even though I was going use the On's for longer distance, I can't help myself, and have a 3km run with their name on them in 15 mins. By the way if anyone interested I sized up to 8.5 Cloudmonster 9.0 Ghost and 9.0 Ride...I am normally an 8 UK shoe size....Happy running and thanks Sue for putting the number 3 in my head !!!

LOL yes, I am still embarrassed when I remember that 10 years ago I admonished my hubby for having two pairs of workout shoes cluttering up our hallway, one for tennis, one for running! I couldn’t understand why you’d need two different ones. It was both running-related exercise, right?

10 years later, 3-4years running wiser (but also purse thinner as a consequence), I have 5 pairs of which 3 are for running (road, trail, all-round), and 2 for walking (0-drop, serious hiker) and hubby has also 2 running (old, new) and 2 walking (less well fit, great fit) .

Our hallway corner has now a dedicated shoe section!

So I think 3 pairs for running is just perfect!

5 wow that's brilliant...also making me look positively frugal hahha!

Ye I had the Nimbus 24 which I quite liked...never tried the Cumulus maybe I will slyly buy a pair in a few months time...It will be good value as you say and stockpile before they're discontinued. I loved the Saucony Iso 2, should definitely have warehoused them hahahaha...Enjoy!! 😁😁

I looked at the nimbus but stuck with the cumulus which had very good reviews, i recommend them ofcours 😀 they are for neutral pronation and have extra cushioning, i also looked at the on cloud but again stuck with Asics, i do like to stock up in case they dont do them anymore, my stock of shoes will last me years 😀

Years ago I read an article comparing pros and cons of different forms of exercise. Running's great, they said, because you can just go out and run, they said, you don't need any special equipment, they said.

Until it becomes a habit and then you need shoes, they said 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think we've all gone a bit trainer mad! I got these a few days after my recent post. Still on sale for £75, so they can sit patiently in the loft until needed😬😂

Don't leave them too long before you use them, the rubber will break down/degrade even when you are not wearing them....

taichi1 profile image
taichi1Graduate10 in reply toCurlygurly2

Thanks for the advice...I plan on rotating them 2 for road 1 for parkruns...but think will stop at 3 pairs hahahaha as you say if they left in the cupboard the rubber can degrade. It's a good point 👍👍
