A little treat to self

Hello & happy Easter to all you running folk! As I was taking a trip to Seville for a few days, I thought it would be a wise investment to treat myself to a some new road shoes so that I could run whilst away, and I'm so pleased that I did!

These are my new brooks ghost 11 shoes that are like running on clouds! They took me on 4 runs in 5 days covering just shy of 30km on some beautiful sunny morning runs, which fully enabled me to just about everything Seville had available to eat and drink! There's unlikely to be any weight loss this month, no matter how far I run!

Have a great Bank Holiday everyone!

Thanks floss, I've heard others talk about how comfortable brooks shoes are, when the guy in the wonderful running shop (the Lincolnshire runner) recommended these I was really chuffed. They allow my feet to 'kiss the ground', as you've often told people!

Just perfect then....it is so good to find the right shoes...:)

Ooh I didn’t know you were in Lincoln as well. I really must go to the Lincolnshire Runner for a gait analysis - not had one yet!

I'm not actually in Lincoln Sandie, but my nearest specialist shops are either Lincoln or Peterborough. They do have a treadmill for gait analysis at the Lincolnshire runner but a chap called Mark watched my wife and I run outside instead. It sounds less technical than a slow motion gait analysis but I asked him so many questions while he was checking my wife, I was very confident that he knew what he was doing! I would have no hesitation going back there! Not pushy or rushed, I tried loads of shoes up & down the high street. 👍

Definitely sounds like I need to go, thank you for the recommendation

Oooo I like those Wiggy. I 😍😍 the orange laces! I hope they give you many happy kms/miles of cloud-like running. Starting their lives in Seville is a great way to begin. 🏃🏃🏃🏃

Slightly more refined than my Bobby Dazzlers me thinks, being surrounded by orange trees, the laces were appropriate!

When I run I should be running amongst tomato trees! (Bushes I suppose! 🍅🍅🍅)

I was only thinking yesterday that we'd not heard from you for a while!

Do your new shoes help you float along more quickly? 🏃🏃🏃☁☁⛅😁

uncle_wiggy in reply to Katnap

Hey Katnap, they are beautifully light & whilst I've not had them out for a speedy session I have found that when I think I've had a long slow run, my splits are well under what I expected! 😊

I do spend a bit less time on here than I used to, was becoming a little hypocritical telling the kids to get off their phones whilst always being on mine! 😳 I do like catching up on you all whenever possible tho, you still breaking PB's like crazy?

Katnap profile image
KatnapGraduate10 in reply to uncle_wiggy

I've been consolidating with the occasional PB. Much better than pushing for a good time every run!

Sounds wise to me, I've had several much slower runs & walk/runs lately so I go out with my wife or daughter, they may not be as fast but they are certainly more fun!

Lovely shoes. 👏🏼 And Seville is great, especially at Easter. Have to run early to avoid those long parades!

You're not wrong Granspeed, they're crazy fanatical at Easter! It was great to run through the streets carefree before the city fully awoke!

Maybe after your next parkrun meet up you should all go shopping & get a group discount! 💷 💷

I tried 2 pairs of brooks, I think the others were adrenalin, totally different & I wasn't over keen. The ghosts in a wide fit on the other hand are perfect 👌

I too have just invested in a pair and I’m in love.

No wearing them in, they’re so comfy and my feet feel lighter than air.

Once you try brooks you’ll never go back!!!

Happy running. x

I wear Brookes too but everyone is different. No one shoe or brand is best for everyone.

That is true. I will always love my Nike Pegasus 14’s.

Lovely shoes, and how wonderful to have some lovely tourist runs in Seville. I am quite jealous. :-)

I do think of myself as very lucky Raz, but we've done a few city trips on such a budget that we're quite the experts now! There's no better way to see a new city!

Lovely shoes, lovely runs Uncle Wiggy. It sounds like you’ve put them to the test. I’m a brooks fan too. Love your laces. I think there’s a window of opportunity selling colourful running shoe laces; they can completely change the appearance of a shoe.
