Back on plan

Thanks to everyone who posted the NRC 10K plan recently. For the last 2 summers I started the Half Marathon plan but never got beyond 12.5K, partly because it takes so long at my speed! However, without a plan I seem to feel aimless and drop right back. So having completed their 5K plan and having had a break for holiday and a nasty cold, I needed a new but more realistic challenge. Just finished the second run of the 10K plan and it feels good to be back in harness. Let's see how it goes this time.

That’s a great update. I like being on a (flexible!) plan and the Nike ones are great for that. You’ll probably spot a lot of us doing the same sorts of runs as you. Enjoy!!

Thanks MissUnderstanding. It's good to have virtual running buddies to keep me accountable!

Good for you Readandrun. I totally agree; being on a plan helps keep us accountable and, like you, I bimble around doing nothing constructive without one. I’m currently following (a bit loosely this last couple of weeks) the NRC HM Plan ahead of Cardiff in October. The coaches are great aren’t they? 😀

Good luck!

Now I'm thinking I need to start a new plan, as I'm a bit directionless at the moment.

Yes, it's good to have a break but I also tend to drift if I'm not on a plan for long. Significantly improving my 5K speed year on year just isn't going to happen now (it's like running up the "down" escalator at my age!) but NRC motivates me to get out and do a variety of runs, even if I don't get back to 10K. There's always something new to see and enjoy on the runs. Today a deer crossed the path just in front of me but phone was in my running belt!

I've been listening to running podcasts and got some motivation, NRC also motivates me to get out too
