Quick, slow hot run with NRC Coach Bennett’s Hot Run!

Link to the audio guided run is here nikerunclub.sng.link/A6sko/...

I took it slow, I followed the shade, I chose a short route, I had a sun visor …. The only thing that Coach Bennett suggested that I don’t have is a set of sun glasses.

So do you run with sun glasses or not?

Take it easy out there! It’s hot!

Huge well done..I went out too. Guided run.Struggle run.Very warm.

I wear wrap around running shades..not so much for sun..more to keep pollen out!

Your run sounds lovely..Good to have the heat reminder for folk too x

Sounds like a good run, my glasses darken Inthe sun, if it's very bright, or the sun low, I wear a peaked cap to keep the sun out of my eyes

Well done on completing the run in the heat and thanks for the pointer to the NRC Hot run- I hadn’t spotted this and it sounds perfect for my run tomorrow.

I wear photochromic lenses (aka Transition), so I don’t have to think about swapping to sunglasses 😁. I also wear a baseball cap on every run- great for the sun and rain 😁.

baseball cap 🧢.. check! Yup, I’ve hit two peaked ones, one is like a baseball cap and one like an open visor. Seldom do I go out on a ru. Without one or the other!

Good getting out. Mines a baseball hat as well.

I went out this morning at 8am, I don’t wear sunglasses (although I have purchased a pair from decathlon) I wear a sweat wicking sun visor, I must admit I had planned a 5km run but could only manage 3km with a couple of walking breaks in between, I tried to run under tree shade as much as possible but could not avoid the beating sun on me, it was just too 🥵

3km sounds perfect for this weather! Well done! We ran pretty much at the same time!

does it, oh that’s good then as I don’t want to lose what I have built up by running shorter distances, I knew I would struggle in this weather but I suppose at least I did 3k today, well done to you to for getting out there ❤️

a run is a run. The Nike Running app has even 7 min runs as audio-guided runs, (and 11 min and 9 min) to encourage runners to see these short runs also as options. So yup! Great run!

Well done us!

oh wow 7 min runs, I’d be finished as soon as I started 🤣 what’s the point of those really short runs? I see a lot of people mention the Nike running club app, is it worth having a look at?

I’d say it is, but I do wonder if it’s possibly best after doing the magic plan to 60 minutes. The Magic plan’s structure is just brilliant to get you to either running 60 min or running 10k. It’s worth experiencing the whole plan.

I started using the Nike running club app after getting to the 10k distance and I think that’s a great way around.

But the app has plenty of little and long runs to chose from.

(I also ran with Zombies for two years, with an app called: Zombies, Run! And that is great fun as well! 🧟‍♀️🧟🧟‍♂️ )

Thanks for the recommendation, I do have running glasses but along with my after shock headphones and hat you can’t possibly wear them all 🙃😂

That’s a great run to do when it’s hot isn’t it CBDB. Well done for getting out. 👏👏🥵

I wear sunglasses more often than not, winter and summer. I always have, as they help protect my eyes in hayfever season (now), plus my optician said it was highly recommended for people with my colouring to wear them too - blonde (with grey!) hair and blue eyes. So I do. 😎

yes, I have to admit I never wear sunglasses, but always a peaked cap. But I think I’ve never suffered glare as much as others. Not sure why.

Hi CBDB! That’s a super run and it was very hot!so well done👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

No I don’t wear sun glasses while running. You see I wear glasses and they don’t go dark in the sun so I think perhaps I need to change my glasses or get a pair of shades.🤔🤔😂🥰x

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply toFolkylass

I don’t either. I’m ok without, I think. Less faff. And a peaked cap is enough for me to avoid the glare.

Yes I have a peaked cap too and that seems to be enough for me🥰🥰

sometimes I do run with glasses CBDB , depends where I’m running and how much shade there is…but I do take them with me, along with a baseball cap to stop me looking like Rudolph!! x

Well done on your hot run! I love this guided run too and learnt a lot from it like the weather forecast max temp being temperature recorded in the shade and not in the sun. I try and run in the shade now and wear more sun lotion - not that I didn’t before but I apply more now so as to avoid losing energy to heat exposure. I wear a cap but no sunglasses as I get sweaty around the eyes too 😅
