Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

No Park run for us today as hubby is away & I was juggling Soccer & basketball games. No.2 son was up early & at school by 7am twice last week doing sprint training for cross country so I think was pleased to stay in bed. It’s our 50th park run next time we run.
Happy park running to those who can ❤️🏃🏻♂️🏃♀️.
Willie is not going to be happy when hubby gets back later & he loses his couch spot 🤣
Maybe we need a “Save Willie’s Couch Spot” petition ! He looks so comfortable; the picture of peace. That said, Molly has never been allowed onto furniture…just too much of her…. Enjoy your breaks; call it a cut back week.👍🙂
Willie’s dog bed is so comfortable that the boys sit on it whilst watching tv rather than the couch 🤣Willie much prefers our couch but he is quite stinky so I only let him up after a groom. Hubby doesn’t want dogs on couches but often invites him up. It’s the cocker eyes.
I ran nearly 17k yesterday so not quite a cut back week 💪🏻
Clevedon for Jenny and I today. One word. Delightful. 🥰 Sun, cool breeze, legs - all perfect. My quickest time at Clevedon over the new course and Jenny got another PB . Great start to our weekend. ❤️
Good morning everyone! A beautiful sunny day at Market Rasen with just a gentle cool breeze to prevent overheating. I decided to try to run without my inhaler today and had to take a couple of walking breaks to ease my breathing, so my faster each week streak came to an end. However, a Strava time of 32.31 and official time of 32.35 meant I was only 30 seconds slower than my last parkrun and first in my age category out of 7. No coughing after either! I count that as a great result! Now for a walk across the fields for a pint in the sunshine. Have a great weekend ☀️☀️
Great result Sandie. I am trying to cut back my inhaler to once per day now. Still over 100 better than pre the change. Cough going is an excellent sign….just coming into form at the right time 👏👏👏
Well done Sandie. Great time. I’ve been trying to shake off a cough too since a recent cold. Finally moving off me although I do get caught up still and start coughed at the end of a run.
I stayed local again today. The remaining after effects of my recent cold have finally started to lift off me. So this morning I went to parkrun with the aim of a sub 30 minute parkrun. I didn’t look at my watch and just ran by feel. I finished in a time of 29:28. Happy with that.
I was also joined by my eldest son Oisin , well when I say joined by, I mean he was in the car with me and at the start line with me. He hasn’t been at parkrun in a long time and all the regular runners were shocked when they seen him, growth spurts and broken voice etc. He disappeared away from me after the start and he finished in a very respectable 25:30.
A hot one here in S-o-T this morning but managed a new PB so happy with that. 🥳Sis was way ahead of me this morning and also got a new PB getting in 5 mins before me.
Brilliant running and huge congratulations to you both on getting new parkrun PB’s. I’ve just been doing a spot of gardening too. Enjoy being out in your garden.
Good afternoon Damien, a bit of drama for me on the way home from parkrun which involved the police, but first my report on my 82nd parkrun and No. 12 where I ran today which was at Springburn parkrun, nice bright morning when I got to the park after getting the train, my time was 31:04 which is just 1 second slower than the last time I ran at Springburn parkrun, I got the train back home but the station is a 30 minutes walk from where I live so I decided to run, run 1 of week 1 of C25K, while running the 4th 60 seconds run 1 saw a little girl crying in the middle of the path I was running on, I immediately stopped running and took her to the nearest house where the lady phoned the police, they came quite quickly, found her parents and I continued on my way home, the little girls name was Lucy, of course she was very happy to see her parents, they thanked me on finding Lucy, so did the police.
Ah Alan. Well done on looking after that little girl so well. The little girl and her family were so lucky that it was you who found her and sorted out that little emergency. Well done too on a great parkrun. Brilliant performance and finish time. A super parkrunning gentleman and Good Samaritan .
PS on two lighter notes regarding today the train code number I travelled back from parkrun was 385007, I like James Bond films and couldn't help smiling when I saw the train coming, secondly it's a pity that I wasn't at Dunfermline parkrun, a runner ran the whole course JUGGLEING in a time of just over 20 minutes.
It was in a wooded area between two districts of the town where there are few people, Lucy was lucky on me finding her and knocking on the nearest door which was incidentally the janitors house of the local secondary school, when I knocked the door the lady immediately phoned the police and let Lucy play on the swings that were in her garden with her own children a little older than Lucy until the police came and then her mother.
Thanks Mudita11, I told my neighbour about Lucy being lost, he said that the police should have warned her parents not to allow Lucy to wander off again or they could be prosecuted for child neglect.
Oh my goodness Al, what a morning you had! But well done on your quick thinking in helping the little girl and your parkrun result of course - I hope your afternoon was quieter!
It was some morning I had on Saturday, glad to say I had a lovely belated birthday meal at my daughters house on Saturday afternoon, I told her what happened in the morning, she congratulated me regarding the lost little girl and my parkrun result.
PS Oldgirlruns, regarding parkrun, I have always suspected that on the first kilometre of any parkrun I have ran a sub 6 minute kilometre, I have only done that twice on any other run for example a (not_) parkrun when my quickest time for one kilometre was 5:58, yesterday at 1 kilometre a man going at my same pace told me at the first kilometre that I ran it in 5:41m/km, certainly a pace I could not keep gong for another 4 k's. if I could, according to Strava my time would have been 28:25 not the 31: 04 it was yesterday.
Intervals today. 10x 2 minutes at 5k pace with slow recovery pace in between. Best pace 6:14….but I ran the recovery periods very slowly. Under 35 minutes for 5k overall …just a good run out after my sports massage on Thursday….gear shift for Monday’s long run….change down of course!Wonderful day to be up in the woods.🙂
Nice one BC! How far will you be venturing on Monday? You seem to have slotted into a lovely routine. 👏👏👏
I need to do some intervals this week. I can run quickly when I try - in fact I dropped a gear and positively sped past the tail walkers this morning and was surprised at how easy it felt, but I slotted back into the chipmunk trot immediately as it’s how I prefer it! I wish I was more competitive sometimes! 😂
Good afternoon Damien and all, where did the time go?
My 100th parkrun at Stratford today (out of 135), it was another beautiful day and lots of people seemed to get PBs. Not me but I did get my fastest time this year which I was very pleased about. No.27 of my 5k a Day in May, I am feeling pretty tired out tbh but there’s only 4 runs left now so there’s no way I’m going to stop!
Youngest kitten preferred to stay in bed but says he’ll go out later. Katnap left me for dust as usual with his usual 22 minuter.
We’re off to pick up eldest kitten next week so we’re going to take the opportunity to go to Princes parkrun which is his nearest. As he doesn’t like to run I’ll make sure he takes part by getting him volunteered up!
Woohoo 100 at Stratford TC, that’s some achievement! I’m a bit of a gad about I’m afraid, so my home PR is neglected nowadays. Sorry Eastville, you’re not relaxing! 😅
300 laps of the Rec is a bit of a 🤯 thinking about it cheeky! If it wasn’t so pretty maybe I’d do more of what you do. Although I do have an immense feeling of guilt whenever I go elsewhere 😂
That makes it sound like even more of an achievement TC! Wowsers, imagine that all in one go. 😳 There you go; a challenge for you and Katnap 😅
Actually Eastville is really pretty too. The hills aren’t! 😖 I have no guilt not going there so much nowadays. You no doubt know by now that I need to enjoy my running. But then I’m not part of the core team or anything so I can see why you would feel guilty not running at your home PR. 😀
Well done TC on your fastest parkrun this year and on your 100th parkrun on your home course. Enjoy your tourist adventure next weekend and good luck for your next 4 5K runs.
Hi! Today GTFC and I did the hardest course in England in terms of elevation at 200m! It’s Whinlatter in the Lake District and one I’ve wanted to tick off the parkrun bucket list for a few years. The Run Director told us all it is known as The Beauty and the Beast and it is definitely that! Absolutely stunning views, plenty of hills and brilliant downhills. We’ll definitely go again. Loved to run it with my soulmate 💗
ah ha, the closest we got to that one is the road below and it really is such beautiful scenery. Well done you two, last year we chose Keswick instead for an easier run!
well done to you both. Lovely photo and brilliant work ticking that Beauty and the Beast course off your list. You’re a beautiful looking couple 🥰. Have a great weekend in the Lake District.
a gentle trot around this lovely park. An undulating (more up than I am use to) mixed terrain of grass and tarmac, 3 lap route. Now enjoying a beautiful wedding in a forest.
Very well done on your parkrun. I used to fly into Carlisle Airport years ago in my Microlight when visiting the UK. Ah those were the days. Pesky kids clipped my wings. That would be great wouldn’t it, fly over on a Friday and ⛺️ camp, do some parkrun tourism and fly home again. Someday perhaps.
Well UpTheStanley was RD at Southsea today so his motley crew rallied behind him to volunteer. Coddfish was timekeeping, Mr C a marshal, JonathanP parkwalking, and Oldgirlruns was on finish tokens. I was press-ganged into being funnel manager for the first time and gee it was hard work! Because of the weather and the long weekend, we had over 514 runners so several times I was having to switch to alternate funnels to cope with the numbers coming in, as well as keeping the runners in order and stopping funnel ducking. Thank goodness the teams at each end were experienced.
I’m looking forward to running without responsibilities at RunWalkLocal tomorrow.
That certainly sounds like hard work Dexy, funnel manager with 514 running and making sure none of them did funnel ducking and keeping them in order, well done.
Thanks Al, I must say I prefer shaking a tambourine and saying well done as a marshal, or barcode scanning. I did feel that I made a difference though.
Well that was better than I thought! I ran with my friend Emma neither of us are fast but I managed to run 33 minutes and Complete Week 8 on a high!
Week 9 is Graduation week Monday Club Run will be at Knole Park Sevenoaks for a change the Thursday Saturday runs will be in Spain 🇪🇸 on the Costa Blanca by the salt lakes which will be nice change!
Travelled to Richmond parkrun today with a colleague who is much younger and fitter than me. He saw some deer 🦌 but I had the wrong glasses on so I missed them. I was chuffed that I was only two places behind him though he blamed his “slowness” on stopping to photograph the deer 🤦🏼♀️🤣. A really lovely single lap course on a beautiful day. Lovely coffee post-run as a reward for the trek back to Richmond station 🚂.
Still on the waiting list for my hernia repair op - apparently my priority level is 'soon' - we'll see! So it was down to my 'second home' parkrun this morning to join the all-volunteering Southsea crew.
To ensure I keep getting some exercise, parkwalking was the role of choice and as my fellow parkwalker was an triathlete who warned me 'I tend to set a good pace - is that ok?', even though he was pushing a double buggy complete with twins, I certainly got that!
It was a beautiful morning with an easterly breeze, meaning a little extra help with the return leg, which contributed to a rather impressive 50.21 time. An enjoyable 'post mortem' on how things went followed in the sea front cafe. 😀
