Well hello you lovely questers…and anyone reading this who hasn’t joined us yet but would like to on our final push for May…

How are you all getting on? What did I say earlier? Didn’t I say we’d all be complaining it’s too warm for running before qe knew it?!!! Well, today is that day!!

mots early mornings for me when the weather heats up…in fact, that’s the only time I can find at the moment…I am still nailing this juggling thing!!! I have only run once last week so my quest isn’t going quite as planned but one run is better than none I suppose eh??? And it was a 5k so I felt quite proud of myself…

I have loved reading all your posts and all the goals you’ve been setting yourselves…you are a bunch of inspiration all in one place…you should be very proud of yourselves.

Thank you all for your well wishes for my sister-in-law..she’s still in hospital but she’s had her op and is on the mend albeit very slowly.

Looking forward to hearing about how it’s going for all of you….let’s have one last push to the end of the month and end the month on a high…my quest is the same…I am determined to get three runs in this week…and I’m coming on here for a bit of your inspiration!!

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

You need, please, to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine.

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!

If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:

“I would like to join the quest”, or, “count me in! I would like to...”

So come and join us…doesn’t matter when you come on board you’re welcome on the quest train anytime 😉

have a lovely week everyone…don’t forget your sun cream and hat in this beautiful sunshine

MC x

I would like to join the quest, Mummycav - my goal is to try and continue running (or rather, slow jogging 🐌) 3 times a week but I'd like to attempt the Magic plan that several people suggested to me. I've only managed to run just over 5k a few times so far and aim to try the timed plan, starting tomorrow - fingers crossed 🤞🏃‍♀️

that sounds like a great plan Lumaca0112 …slow is good…as I am finding out just lately!! Anything is better than nothing at all…& that’s two of us hoping to run 3 times a week…we can do this!!!

Thanks Mummycav! Did the first run of the week this morning - 30 mins of the timed plan (will do the 15-minute run another day) at a very, very slow pace 🐌 Hope you manage to get out there 3 times this week 🤞As you say, we can do this! 💪💪💪🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hi Mummycav are you enjoying this glorious weather?

Well my quest for the rest of this week and month I suppose is to try to increase my distance ( so tomorrow I’ll be running a new route which hopefully I will increase my distance)

I also would like to see how far I can run without stopping 😂😂.

Watch this space👀

I flippin am Folkylass ..i love love love the sunshine….even if I’m trapped in my car all day it’s good to have the windows down and fresh air wafting about!! I’m finding that Jeffing is the way forward for me at the moment…I have to enjoy it when I do manage to get out there so pushing myself too much doesn’t feel very appealing to me!! Whatever you manage to run without stopping we’re right there with you!!!

Have a good week ☺️

Hi Mummycav , thank you. Consistent in the running department this past week - nailed the second 50 minute run and my first Fartlek. 55 minute run planned for this coming weekend to contribute towards the Run World Cup. Not so good on the Pilates - again only one workout last week.

Sounds like you’re nailing this months quest chrisl72 …even one Pilates sesh is better than none…keep it going this week, I’m sure you’re feeling good with all that running?!

Feeling great thank you! The only downside to going for a run is knowing I have to wait a day in between before the next one!

🤣 and that’s so important!!

Great news about your sister in law. Hope she’s home and on the mend soon.

You’re absolutely right about the weather. My runs have been before 9am or after 8pm! I haven’t nailed what to wear yet either. Constantly too hot!

It’s much more positive this week. I’ve had three pain free runs. Suddenly, I feel fast! I don’t quite know how-I’m hardly running compared to usual. It must be all the strength work. I was expecting this to happen over time but this is the first run where it was really noticeable. A great feeling!

Looking back at my quest goals…

Hit strength hard! 2x gym 2x Pilates

This was a win! I’ve been to kettlebells and body pump classes and two Pilates classes. Now I’m getting into it a bit, I’m getting some of the endorphins that I’m missing from running really pushing myself.

Daily physio exercises including stretching

This is also a tick! I’ve also really upped the preparation I’ve done before my runs thinking about warming up the bits of me that might grumble. I’m sure that’s helping.

Walk/swim as appropriate

I’ve done well with this too. My average daily steps are much higher than last week. I’ve swum twice, using it as a nice cool down from some tough classes.

I didn’t set a run target last week and I’m glad about that. It took the pressure off. I think I’ll keep everything the same until I see the physio again later this week. I’m hoping he’ll be pleased with me. I feel like I’ve worked hard and tried to do the right thing so it’s nice to be back on track again.

Have a great week Questers!

FAB-U-LOUS!!! You are working out that ticking hand too!!! I am taking plenty of inspiration from you as I’m sure many others are…your enthusiasm is catching!! I have used my ticking hand this morning as I’ve done my first early morning run of the week…yay!! It’s going to be a good one I can feel it !!

Thank you and well done for the morning run! I find those hard… loving the lighter evening at the moment.

I’ve just spotted I forgot to give myself a load of ticks. I’ll do that here…✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️😂

It’s a big change from how I was feeling last week. I know it’s still going to be bumpy but I’ll take the positives when they come! ❤️

Very glad your sister in law is on the mend Mummycav and thanks for the Quest.

Well, I'm pleased to say I've achieved, if not quite smashed, my goal for this month, 14.39 km run so far which is definitely more than the 13.85 last month. OK, I ran over 60km last May but I really have had genuine reasons why I haven't been running so much.

The main thing is just to keep at it, isn't it? There are still a few days left, maybe I can get to 20km? :)

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Yesletsgo

thank you Yesletsgo …she might be able to go home tomorrow 🤞🏼

I’m so happy you’re smashing your quest so far…and I am almost certain you will get that 20k…you sound so positive…go on, you can do it!!

I can't remember if I had said anything at the start of the month.

It's hectic here at the moment. Lots of chores outside due to the weather getting better.

Things are also getting to a head with just over a week to go before the the murder mystery play we're rehearsing goes on. (It should have been done in the Autumn half term, but one of the main actors had a heart attack the week before.) I'll be helping with the set build after parkrun on Saturday and setting up speakers and stage lights on the Bank Holiday Monday.

That said, I did get in the HUHM on Friday lunchtime last week, and a hard parkrun the day after.

Like you I'm switching to morning runs. I had a lunchtime 5km on Monday and, but for a breeze, would have melted.

Also planning for a fortnight's holiday away, checking for parkruns in the target area, and also a potential parkrun for the overnight stop we'll be making on the way there.

My plan? Do what I can when I can fit it in.

ooo, you’ve got a lot going on!! Murder mystery? Are you playing a part?! Glad the actor has recovered from hi s heart attack…there’s been a lot of people lately suffering with heart attacks, it’s scary..

I didn’t manage the HUHM (no surprises really!) I set off but only had time to do 5k!!! I realised that if I did 10k I’d be running along the canal in the dark…which would could’ve turned into my own murder mystery!!

My morning run yesterday was beautiful…nature at its finest and let’s do what we can together x

Yes, I'm acting in it. It's called The Great British Bump-Off and is about a village fête's baking competition. I play The Major who is the organising committee chairman. I always seem to get character parts like that as I can do the accents.

The guy who had the heart attack (and is fully recovered after his bypass) is playing a celebrity chef who's recently moved to the village. Of course, all the characters have something in their past…

Gaahhh sorry Mummycav I completely missed last week's one 🤦‍♀️ so I am just catching up with that and this week's!

Glad to hear your Sister-in-Law is on the road to recovery and hope you are able to find time for yourself now.

I shall try and cram last week and this week into this post and be reasonably brief!

Last week (Monday) I did a very short, 10 min treadmill interval run which was a lot of fun.

Thursday was intended for a 4KM run, which then was going to be 5KM but then had to divert due to the road being closed for roadworks so ended up being 6KM (with a bit of walking up a very steep hill).

And then Sunday I successfully ran the HU10KM after writing it off at the start of the month.

This week will only be 2 runs. I did a 4KM recovery run this morning and will probably do another run on Sunday if time will allow.

I am making a conscious effort to do stretching every day (Yoga or Pilates) and at least 10 minutes of core work as well.

So in a nutshell, lots of stretching, not too much running and hope that keeps the physio away! xx

Hello Mummycav glad to hear your sister in law is on the mend and well done for completing a 5k. My quests in week 3 have gone as follows:

1) YES - carry on running 2/3 times a week. Ran 3 times

2) YES - run at least one 5km each week - ran another parkrun

3) YES - do at least one parkrun this month - have done my 3rd one today

4) NO - do my physio exercises at least 4 times a week. Haven't done them at all and today I experienced really tight calf muscles and tender achilles tendons during my parkrun so will look to incorporate calf stretches every day and slightly reduce my running and walking mileage for the next week or so.

Thanks again for keeping us accountable and good luck with fitting in those 3 runs a week! 🤗

Well done Jogger22 …make sure you do those stretches, now you know how important they are! Congratulations on your 3rd parkrun too!
