The newer model (ending 55) Forerunners are less generous with fitness age than the older Garmin models. The maximum you can drop seems to be 9/10 years, whereas with my vivoactive3 my fitness age (using the same algorithm as your FR45) eventually dropped all the way to the minimum possible of 21.

Just remember that Health Unlocked has a minimum age of 18 so please don’t get too young for us!!

Your post prompted me to check my VO2. Bear in mind I've only managed one run a week since April but Garmin tells me I'm in the 'blue' zone, in the top 20% for my age and gender and my fitness age is 18 years younger than my last birthday cards told me.

Sounds a bit optimistic to me but I'll take it :)

Ha ha ! No... Ancient snail... !

My V02 just popped up on my new watch... I was thrilled... it used the word, Excellent... I had no clue...but checking on the Garmin App... informed me of my fitness age and that I was in the top 30% for age and gender too. I was floating all day !!!

I am sitting with my watch and handbook right now, trying to out some more intervals into my training plan! Could take a while! Maybe I will just head out for the run!

Edit

Just checked my VO2,,,top 10% !! Whooo hooo... maybe I am 26..or 37 and not 73 !!!!

I have cancer and the treatment I have had has impacted my running. My Garmin says my fitness age is 79. I keep looking for the horde of 79 year old runners, and failing.

I have a VO2max of 42 with fitness age 20. Not bad for a 61 year old πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
