Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Back at park run for hubby and no.2 son. No. 3 son and no 4 son also ran today. I did a slow 10k to meet them so no park run for me. No.2 son hasn’t run for a couple of weeks so todays sub 20 felt hard. 19:57 for him.No.3 son reckons he got 27:30 ( no.2 son is saying no to that time🤣)Hubby & no.4 made it in 28:43. No 4 reckons he was slowed down by his Dad. (Hubby is also saying no to that 🤣 )
Brilliant. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning with your family. That’s a busy house. Well done to you on your 10K and fantastic results from all your boys. Have a great weekend.
Soccer & Basketball season start this weekend so the Winter sport craziness begins. It would be great if they could all just be runners 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
How wonderful RunWillie . We have a few very fast juniors who don’t want to slow down to parents pace. So they now attach themselves to faster responsible adults. 😂
Clevedon again today as Jenny had to dash off for a bridesmaid dress fitting so we took separate cars so I could loiter around for a coffee after!
I ran with a friend; NRC’s Coach Cory accompanied me with his 60s intervals run! I loved it, as it gave me focus, and I ran quicker than last weekend. Still making steps in the right direction which is SUCH a relief. Jenny also ran well. We do enjoy Clevedon. ❤️
Quite a big turnout today as Weston (ok, ok, Marine Parade!) was off due to the high tide, and it was a great atmosphere. Saw some Eastville friends, one of whom is on the home stretch to her 250th! 😮
Hi everyone, after a very long run yesterday I was Tailwalking today. Our Tailwalker get tails as well as hi viz to wear and I lost mine on the second lap. A kind lady runner handed it to me as she overtook me. This weekend Stratford is celebrating Shakespeare’s Birthday and as I walked back from Parkrun, I met the man himself heading off to join the parade.
After a week off last Saturday because of aching knees, (did a weeknof strength an flex instead), getting back into the swing this week has been a bit of a drag but today YAY! had a really good parkrun. Met two ladies in my time bracket and we paced each other coming in within about 3 mins of each other. On an endorphin high now! Going up to Scarborough on Monday for 3 days so hoping to have a couple of seaside runs whilst we're there. Think I've got my mojo back now after my bro-in-law's hurtful comments a couple of weeks ago.
Good morning everyone! It’s my 5 year Runniversary of C25k W1R1 tomorrow, but as Mr S and I are taking the van out to camp by the River Nene near Peterborough and going to the Motorhome Show tomorrow, I decided to mark it with my 73rd parkrun. A cool, slightly drizzly and breezy morning at Market Rasen. I started too fast and my legs ran out of steam at the end, so I only managed 33.36 (a 5k time of 33.06) but I was 2nd in my age category. Here’s to the wonderful Class of 2018 🏃♀️🏃🏻♂️🏃♀️🏃🏻♂️
Whoop whoop Sandie1961 🥳. Congratulations on your runniversary, and such a great class it was too. I was a few weeks behind you and you’ve reminded me I should celebrate my 5 years too. I was 33.28 today so we were virtually running together!
Happy runniversary Sandie and definitely cheers to the class of 2018. 23/05 starting C25k for me. Hopefully I will be running again by then (I am sure that I will be.)
Thank you 😊 We are a good team aren’t we? I’m sure you will be back running in a month and you’ll have to celebrate with your favourite post run refreshment😋
Ooh! I didn’t get proper running shoes until I graduated. Didn’t think I’d continue, so, being a Yorkshire woman by birth, didn’t want to spend money if I didn’t have to 😂
Good morning Damien, this morning I ran my 3rd quickest parkrun at out of the 8 tines I have ran at Palacerigg Country Parkrun in a time of 33:09, this is a trail course with a 1500 metres uphill trail to the finishing line, 33:04 is my fastest time at Palacerigg, that was achieved when I ran my first parkrun there on September 10th last year, the weather was fine and sunny with a brisk east wind and a temperature around 7C,
Next Friday afternoon I have to go and get another booster Covid 19 jab but I don't want to miss parkrun on Saturday so I will probably PARKWALK most of it, again at Palacerigg.
Well done ALMorr 👏👏 on your time especially with that 1500 metre uphill. That’s sounds like a hard slog. Hope it wasn’t too muddy or slippy. Non of your sun here just the cold easterly wind.
No, there was no mud or slippyness at Palacerigg parkrun this morning, the weather where I am in Central Scotland has been brilliantly sunny since Tuesday with no rain but that east wind has kept the temperature down a little, I am getting another Covid 19 vaccination booster on Friday afternoon, not sure if I should RUN at parkrun on Saturday, perhaps PARKWALK would be best.
Thanks Dexy, I am not sure if I should RUN at parkrun next week less than 24 hours after I get another Covid 19 booster vaccination on Friday afternoon at around 3 o'clock.
I was thinking of doing that Dexy5, on their Facebook page they are looking for volunteers for next week, I'll contact them and tell them that I am willing to be the parkwalker or tailwalker next week.
This morning I ran at my local parkrun. I left Ruby behind and decided to go for a 29 minute finish time. I started off closer to the front and was running at a faster pace than I had planned but after 1K I was feeling comfortable so I decided to try and keep it up. I was averaging at around a 5:43 k/min pace and I was maintaining it. I ended up being in a little pace group and after 4K I realized that the pace had increased a little. After climbing the dreaded hill on the final lap I was exhausted and was really hanging on. I managed a sprint finish and ended up with a finish time of around 28 mins. I’m still waiting on my official parkrun result. My watch says 28:00:08. Strava says 27:59. Anyway I’m delighted that I pushed myself and that is my fastest parkrun finish time this year.
Hi Damien and fellow runners, this morning a friend and I set off to Warrington park run and the sat nav couldn’t find it 🙄 we tried our phones but just couldn’t seem to find it. So we parked and I spotted a guy in a Parkrun t-shirt “excuse me, are you heading to Parkrun?” He said yes follow me. He was running so we fell in step and he said ‘it’s about a mile away’! 😱 he was chatting away telling us about all the marathons he’s ran around the world; so interesting! Then we ran past a pie shop 🥧 mmm the smells, he told us it’s very popular so we decided to visit on the way back.
Got to park run, met our club members and off we went, it was a lovely run with bridges to run under, streams to see and grass and tarmac underfoot so a good mix.
Finished and walked back past the pie shop; not many left (a good sign) we stocked up and just to report they were delicious - we felt we’d earned those pies after the extra mile at the start 😋
Sounds perfect. Parkrun and pies 🥧. I love when I’m in England to sample a proper pie. Not something that is as popular here in Ireland. But I do make a delicious Beef and Guinness pie myself sometimes.
Whoop Whoop ! VRB meet up at Southsea parkrun this morning. The lovely aliboo70 and Kenny caught the hovercraft from the Isle of Wight to join us today after a few previously aborted attempts. And what a nice morning for it with a very light easterly breeze, 9C and cloudy.
I had 2 layers on and was thinking it might be too warm. Ali had the same thought and went down to one layer, but I held out. After a quick Hello to Coddfish and Oldgirlruns it was time to join the throng. The 2 of us started running together and chatted as we ran (I was panting 😂). On the way back the sun came out and I stripped my T-shirt off at 4k - it always gets warmer with the breeze behind us. I think we got to 4.25k when I needed to catch my breath and sent young Ali on to get a good time for herself. I walked a few minutes, then I was off again and finished 13 places and 39 seconds behind her. I was really pleased with a time of 33.28 , having been chatting. I think that sub 33 might be on the cards soon. I was 1st in my very select age group too with an age grade score of 61.5%.
The Coddfishes weren’t able to join us for breakfast because of family visitors, so just 5 of us went to the busy Briny restaurant. UpTheStanley and Kenny were commiserating about the likelihood of their footie teams being relegated from League 1, and this was further endorsed when we saw Accrington Stanley lose at the Pompey ground this afternoon. Oh well, at least we’ll get chance to see them elsewhere next season, and maybe combine with tourist parkruns.
I was panting as much as you 🤣 ,we were pretty well-matched I thought (the matching birthdays must have helped eh?) Was a lovely morning thanks for being such great hosts,Kenny is saying its his favourite South coast parkrun (not sure if he means over ours but probably as he loves flat roads routes! ) shame about the footie match! 😕xxx
We are getting quite well practiced at hosting tourists now Ali, and we’re pleased that you didn’t have to suffer the strong westerly winds today. I forgot to include Kenny in the pics, so here he is
Today went very well Damien, until I tried to scan my gym membership card instead of my (credit card) barcode. I was then highly embarrassed, and all around me highly amused! Hey ho …
I haven't run a pr for a number of weeks so was glad to go back. I walked the 2k to the start (a first). I was all togged up including my Ron Hill top, running tights and knee length compression socks and was very hot by the time I got there and decided I couldn't run like that but facilities are sparse near the start and the RNLI building was closed. Next best thing was the empty barrel storage area by the harbour bar so as discretely as possible I shed the extra layers which had me standing in my pants and T shirt at one point. Hopefully I offended no one. I met up with my S-i-L and his BM who said they were taking it easy, I said don't worry about me I'll run my own run. Within 100 mtrs they were gone. They actually only finished 3mins in front of me but I just knew if I tried to keep up it would have been too fast and I would have suffered overall. As it was I had to have 2 short walks on the 2nd hill. I finished with a time of 31.13 and acheived the 'Palindrome Acheivement' as my 5k app tells me. My watch time was 30.48. To finish off I walked the 2kms home too (another first) 😁
Running along the old fishing harbor (I think), I realized that I am turning into a total running nerd 🤣 as I now travel with my running gear - and plan my travels around running, at least to some extend. Flying out of Corfu back to the gray skies of Cologne, I decided to spend the night on the island - so I could run a (not)parkrun in the morning of my travel day.
It was well worth it! The run was absolutely magnificent - with breathtaking views. I even stopped a few beats to take a picture of the windmill... It also paid off to go out fairly early as the streets were still quiet - plus, sunrise! Of course, traveling there off-season also helped.
Plus, I liked not having to do all the travel in one day. My main stay had been on the Greek island Lefkada and I took bus and ferry to get to Corfu on one day, then flights and trains the next. Delightfully paced travels!

I run walk currently our local Park Run in Tonbridge Kent! 16 weeks ago I was running all the way! Due to a serious injury I had to stop for three months! I am now back out there slowly building my run fitness back up by redoing C25K currently about to start week 4! I am spoilt in this part of Kent having quite a few to choose from!
My Park Run was good this week. I have missed a couple of weeks but still running in between. I have signed up for a 10k for race for life in July. So I complete the park run and then did a third lap to try build up my ability . I was tired but I coped so I am happy 😊
Very well done on your parkrun and good luck training for your 10K. It’s a great goal to have. I set myself a goal to run a 10K race back at Christmas time. I booked a 10K for the end of April. I’ll be running it next Sunday.
