A bit of a run with tech troubles 📱😩

I was determined to get out for a little run this morning. Up and out at 7-15 which is early for me. I just got out of he door when I got a message saying podcast had closed as was not the real thing ?????? Switch Strava on and then set off for a really quiet 🤫 run. Then got another text saying I’d used all my data for this month. 🤬🤬🤬. Well I’m not great with technology and I wasn’t sure how or why this had happened. I don’t download films etc so really don’t understand why I got this message. But Strava still worked and as I run out of the village which is bad for Wi-Fi anyway I wasn’t expecting it to. However I set off too fast and only did 2 k before I gave up on my naked run. But it was my fastest 2 k in a while so I suppose every cloud has a silver lining 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You were out! 😀 Yes that is a silver lining and sometimes a shorter faster run is just enough. Feel proud that you did it.

Well done for getting on with your run despite the tech problems. The worst for me is when I'm trying to follow a guided run and that starts playing up. Thankfully, that doesn't happen very often.

For Strava to track your run, all you need is a gps signal (which uses signals from satellites so it works in most places where you have a clear view of the sky). It only needs data (WiFi) to save the results afterwards. It will wait until your phone has a connection before it goes that.

Listening to podcasts whilst you're out and about is probably using up your data. Downloading podcasts when you're connected to WiFi should help. Assuming, that is, your setup allows you to download them!

This reply is way longer than I intended!

thanks for the advice. I’ll try down loading the podcast. I only listen to them when I go for a run so I didn’t think I would need to down load them as I’m only going out for 2-3 short runs a week atm. But all advice is much appreciated where technology is concerned 🤣🤣

What an absolute pain! I often say that tech is wonderful until it isn’t. Great run anyway. It’s always nice to get an unexpected quick one in!

The mobile signal is rubbish where I live so I always download podcasts on bbc sounds, the apple podcast app and Nike Run Club so they don’t leave me hanging halfway through. That’s definitely worth doing if you have Wi-Fi at home and might be simpler than you think.

Hope the tech gods are smiling on you next time. They’re fickle friends!!!

Good for you for getting out! I have become too reliant on all this tech and MUST go out with it all working! 😱😅😅I don't know what people did prior to all too the tech, I guess they must have tied a very long piece of string to their front door, unravelling it as they ran whilst carrying a ghetto blaster on their shoulder 🤣🤣🤣. God help them if they ever came across another runner and got tangled up, and I bet marathons were a nightmare! Lol that would make a great Monty Python sketch.

The thing with me is, I have to go out with the tech and the music, but I hardly ever listen to the music as I always enjoy living in my thoughts when I run...

🤣🤣🤣🤣I’m a bit of a technophobe really and only manage the basic stuff. But I do like to see if my pace is steady and how far I’ve run. Lately though I’ve taken to listening to the Zoe podcast and I didn’t realise that it’s better to download it and then listen to it. 🤣🤣🤣
