Got the 10k running bug

last Sunday joined the Clock Change challenge 10k as part of a group wearing foster tops to help promote fostering with your local authority. I’d completed the NRC plan but can’t believe how incredibly nervous I was at doing another race. It was an out and back and it felt like a slight incline going out and then a bit downhill going back. I started right at the back so next time I’ll try and go out in the middle as I felt I made a gap right from the start. My worry was setting off too fast but I’m sure now I could start quicker than that. On the return bit I did go quicker and managed to overtake two people before finding the hill at the end tough and slowing down. However I did take a few minutes off the last time I did a 10k in 2021 and even though the rest of the group had already finished and taken photos I was cheered over the finishing line which was great . Official time 1:13:58 so pleased with that but next time would like to have more of a game plan to shave off a bit more time. I’m thinking more tempo runs as those really help on the tough bits! Totally unrelated picture of Cuba which we enjoyed visiting last year to sign off . Hope everyone’s races and running plans are going well!

Sounds like a good race! I get nervous too at races, done a few now, but I get a real mixture of nerves and excitement, think its the whole thing of not knowing how it will go. . I do love a 10Km though!
