After a horrible 3k when I could not settle, followed by a hard 4k (for no particular reason) earlier this week, I thought my 10k plan was never going to happen, but today was the day! I almost called it quits at 7k, but watching a runner calmly and effortlessly passing me somehow gave me the motivation not to give up. Having reached 8k a week ago, I was determined to beat my PB, and when I reached 9k with some energy to spare, there was no way I was going to stop short of my goal today!
When I started running again earlier this year, 10k seemed an impossible goal and I wasnβt sure how realistic it was, so I am super happy to have achieved it π.
At this stage Iβm not sure if I want to run further, so I think Iβll focus for a while on 5-8k runs and try out some speed work for a change, to improve my pace.

Well done to you on completing that 10K in a reasonable time of 1:16:34, glad you enjoyed your run, I hope to run my first 10 K of the year on Wednesday, probably around the same time β β π
I had to a reply to your post as I did the same as you this morning I made up my mind I was going to do the first 10K run since I had a bunion op last May
I redid C25 K in August and this time felt as though I made really hard work of it but still done it much harder this time round 5 years older and every run I said the same thing I cannot ever start this again it was so hard
I have been plodding on ever since not really that comfortable but running is just about the only thing I do since all the lockdowns
I got to 9 and a half K last Monday so went for it I felt like I was dragging myself along at some points but yippee finally done Iβm so happy when I got home I had Strava 10K and 100 K challenge badges for March that cheered me up.
I am not far from you Essex anyway Iβm in Gidea park Romford
Congratulations on your 10k too! It was a challenging run for me . I know what you mean about dragging yourself around π, plus there were all the school kids getting off buses to negotiate this morning! Must leave my longer runs to the weekend in future π.
