My 3rd time jeffing at the park run 15/30 ratio and still dont think I've got it right. The 30 second walk I tend to do almost as fast as the run, I think I'm trying (I say that loosely) to keep up with the runners. Should my recovery walk be a lot slower? On my way home my walk which is 3k I jeffed slowly and didnt get out of puff dont know what my time was as I didnt put mr garmin on

Oh dear brain working faster than finger again. No I didn't jeff all that. I walk to the park 3k then do the pr then walk the 3k back but this time I did jeff the walk home. The other extra bits where me looking for my ear bud which I lost on the park run ..didnt find it🙈

I've been doing various Jeff's...4 run to 1 walk, and more recently 1/1 which actually gets me 5k in less rltime than running it all! I put more effort into the runs if I know that very soon I'll have a walk again....I started doing it after I lost alot of puff after being poorly.. it's a good way for building up distance again I find.

Hi doggytail. I don’t Jeff often, but like  Mudita11 I lost a ton of fitness after a lurgy last September so I thought I’d give it a go for an experiment on my first 10k back, just to see what all the fuss was about!

A friend of mine Jeffs regularly, and recommended a 60:30 seconds ratio. It was fun and I managed the 10k in a similar time to if I’d run the whole lot, even though I still wasn’t fully fit.

Definitely worth experimenting more if you’re not happy. Good luck and have fun. 😀

I think the pace varies... on the first HM I did , there were several folk jeffing and their walking pace seemed very brisk indeed to me... as Mormor1 has been doing I have used the technique after illness.. a confidence thing really.

I was drawn to your post because of the Jeffing reference. I wanted to give this a go too, but found that the YT posts I watched and stuff I read tended to 'overcomplicate' a basically simple premise. I've therefore signed up to a local running club (tell the me of 3 years ago I'd be joining a running club!!!) who offer a four week taster for free and I'll go to their Jeffing sessions, which are twice a week.

I'm not expecting any huge revelations regarding the run/walk/run process, but it'll be good to be amongst folk who 'know what they're doing' and hopefully learn from them. I mention this in case a similar option is available to you.

Thank you for your reply there diesnt seem to be any jeffing clubs around me, but I would be very interested to hear how you go on x

It's not a 'Jeffing Club', rather a 'Jeffing Group' within the running club (it's not my nearest one - they don't do it - but a club in another town about five miles away. Might be worth asking a few clubs in your area?

It takes practice to get the technique right. Essentially you run slightly faster in the "run" part (not an all out sprint though), then you "glide" to a walk (a bit like a car coasting). This ensures you don't lose all the momentum you've built up. Took me ages to get this right, as I tended to apply the brakes, instead of allowing the momentum to carry me. It takes about 5-10 seconds to gradually slow to the walk. Once walking, it's brisk - as though you're going to be late for an appointment.Keep trying, don't give up!

Thank you I think I've got the glide bit right after I run I dont immediately walk I go into gradually like you say 5-10 secs. I think the walking bit I'm doing is to fast but I'm not giving up. I will get my recovery right lol x
