Amazing what actually writing something down does to you! It means I committed it to paper and HAD to follow through 🙂 Otherwise I'd have looked pretty daft 🤪 It worked! I jeffed - 2 minutes running, 1 walking for 22 minutes. It was ok once I was actually out there - as usual it's just getting OUT there that's the problem - for me anyway! Anyone else suffer with the same 'problem'?

I am so pleased for you. Jeffing is a really good way back in after a layoff, it worked for me too. My op had me short walking only and a struggle too for just over two weeks, but then I started shuffling a bit on my walks for a few yards, after the staples were out , fully togged up, so just til warm. I still do that now if on my own, out on a walk, pretending I'm running a few yards to catch a bus is how I have it in my mind! Just get the heart up a bit. Today has been wild here so I've had an extra rest day! I like the elements but also had family commitments so gave it a miss. A run on a day like today takes a lot of pre-run and even more post-run getting ready! I'm not so fond of the faffing bits.

All my runs post op were short, 2k /20 minutes + warm up for around three weeks. At that point I knew I had most of my fitness and motivation back.

Worrying about loosing physicality was massive because the op had complications. Also having to make sure I was really Okay was just me knowing me!

Maybe the writing things down was a form of plan, like JuJu, and that works for you. So maybe it's more planning and sharing that will work.

Anyhow absolutely great.

Thanks for this encouragement Chinkoflight. You know, just reading that you did lots of 2k/20 minute runs makes me feel that maybe I try to do too much too soon. I was thinking of a post you wrote not so long ago saying that you just stopped when you'd had enough - sensible - to not flog it. I'm going to try and go out twice a week and to run/jeff and just enjoy it - build up my fitness and then my time. It's not like I don't do anything else. I'm walking the dog twice a day as well. Think I'll write in my diary that I'm going to run and RUN!!

Fantastic! I missed your earlier posts, but can see you were leading up to this! Glad you're recovering from your injury enough to get going again.

I think we're kind of in the same boat although you haven't had an injury but a grand child!!😀

Week done for getting out there 👍

I definitely suffer from "getting out the door" syndrome 😂I also started jeffing after injury a couple of years ago and found it really worked for me so I'm still jeffing now.

This jeffing lark seems to be the way to go in many ways. To improve fitness, to come back after an injury - both of which I am trying to do so I think I'll stick with it for a while 🙂

This is a brilliant update! I know what you mean about getting out of the door. Once I’m started. I usually have a great time/am proud of myself when I get back but the amount of internal debate and cajoling that goes on before putting my shoes on…so much wasted energy! Last night I forced myself out in the dark and the cold and the rain. Felt like a hero the whole time and it was the world’s best shower. I’m trying to hold on to that feeling.

Hope you had a good reward 🏃‍♀️💪🏃‍♀️

Yes, it's always great when you run against the odds and come back feeling like a hero!🤣 Well done you!

Oh well done! I'm so pleased that worked for you. And yes I too will do the run if I've said on here I'm doing it! (Or the walk, or whatever I'm capable of at the time..) 🤔 - whatever works! 😁

Wowsa, fellow jeffer!

Yes, the biggest barrier is the 0.5inch high threshold of one’s outside door! 🤣🤣

So well done! I’ve really begun to like jeffing. So welcome to the club.

Me too! I have at the moment a dose of “ getting out the door syndrome “

My last run if you would call it that was in fact the day before Xmas eve. Why? Well it was cold! Wet! Running jacket not waterproof ! Then there was Xmas with that came lots of food ,treats etc etc .No alcohol I might add but plenty of excuse’s not to go out.

So this morning I am going out and like you I shall be Jeffing. I find it works for as where I live there are many a hill and plenty of inclines.😀

Well done on you getting out there. It is the “getting out there” that’s the problem that we all have sometimes😂😂

Happy new year and keep running ,keep smiling.

🤣🤣

Hi 59er, that's a great title to your post! I absolutely agree, getting out of the door can be the hardest problem. That's why I've booked and paid for a training session this morning. I must be mad!!I hope you recover well after your injury. 🙂

Paying for a session would indeed make me get out that door 🤣 Hope it goes well and you benefit from it 🙂
