I haven't run for 7 days so was determined to get out today whatever the weather, excepting snow, ice and severe cold. I brought my running Asics Gel-Contend 7 shoes out of retirement. The naughty elves have been around over the weekend as the grandchildren stayed over and my shoes were right at the bottom of the shoebox; I bet it was them. Or maybe they hid themselves as they know they are to be replaced by Asics Metarunners in a few days.
I felt that I needed some helpful encouragement to take me through a return run, especially after the events spoken about in my last post. Obviously I had all your support as well through your kind answers to it.
I decided on one of the 3xC25k+ podcast's with my good friend Laura. Now this is where the title comes into effect. I picked the 'Stamina' one as it had 35 minutes in the title so allowing for the 5 minute walks that was a 25 minute run, ideal! Of course it was.
The second factor was my own fault, I decided to go clockwise on my run which led me to Laura's call for increased speed to coincide with inclines; and you know how I love themππ.
But that wasn't the biggest mistake! That came at about 25 minutes when I realised that I still had 10 minutes to go AND with an increase in pace AND at the start of an incline.
Yes it was a 35 minute run with 2x5 minute walks included ππ
I hold my head up high, I did complete it although an expletive was heard on every breath and footfall. Whether my pacing came up to Laura's 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4 I don't know.
As you can see it was a beautiful morning, 12Β° so practically sunbathing weather, distance 5.46km, average pace 6.19, average cadence 188spm(whatever that is), time 34.30(obviously Strava lied about this bitππ) . Oh Β nowster the only VO2 was on my hair in the shower afterwards ππ
