I’ve been sulking with my ‘On’s’ for a few weeks, they’re looking distinctly done in at less than 400km, and really don’t suit my gait. Think I’ve annihilated the soles as they don’t fit right. Finding running in them so uncomfortable that I’ve swapped back to my ASICS gel-kayano’s which are approaching 800km old.
Well that was until today, when I decided it was high time I paid another visit to the running shop and acquired a new pair of ASICS GT2000-10.
Asked the shop owner what the real difference in the GT’s and Kayano’s is. His answer, about £40! And there’s no difference in use. Had the Series 8 GT’s previously so happy with these and got to try them out on the treadmill.
I’ve learned a lesson, it really isn’t worth trying to get a ‘bargain’ and following hype instead of visiting a proper running shop.
First outing for them in the morning

Interesting....I just invested in a pair of Asics Gel Kayano 29s. Got them from my local independent running shop. It was a toss up between those and some considerably cheaper New Balance.
Absolutely no pressure from the owner - a national 10k trials runner- to go for the more expensive shoes but they just felt so much more comfy.
Incidentally he doesn't rate On's at all and doesn't sell them. But they are "on trend"
My current two pairs of shoes are GT 2000s and kayanos. I prefer the GT 2000s. The kayanos are fine-I just like the feel of the GT 2000s better. They came through for me on me recent half marathon! Yours are a particularly nice colour.
