Running by Feel

Today’s run had lots of different features. It was a recovery run, a run by feel, a hill run and I chucked in a couple of strides at the end for good measure.

I’m still recovering after a recent race so aimed for an easy pace. Instead of using my watch as a guide, I set it to show the time of day (and didn’t take any notice of my start time so I only had a vague idea how long I’d been running) and was judging pace by feel. I’d decided to do about 10k and headed out to a local hill to mix up the run. Bit like a flatter version of a Cmoi run.

On the way back, I did a couple of one minute strides (in time-of-day mode, my watch doesn’t show seconds so that was the smallest interval I could time).

Checked after I’d finished and found that I’d covered almost 12.2k. I think today’s run went well (the sunshine definitely helped).

Sounds like a great run SkiMonday , and indeed not unlike something I'd do, barring the strides, for which I had to check the definition! 😕

Sounds like a great way to run

Running for fun and by feel , and making it up as you go along it's too easy to be shackled to the tech sometimes and can be fun to break free

Pre marathon I would never have been tempted to run like this but it sounds like something fun to try.

It’s a nice way of doing something a bit different and, having trained up to marathon distance, there’s little risk of running beyond your limit!

Another variation is to make up the route as you go!

Hmm…maybe 🤔 I need something to mix it up a bit.

It makes a change to just run by feel doesn’t it, no constant checking for pace. That run sounds great
