A double dose of the Quest this time, the Quest will now run until the 6th January 2019. Have a great Christmas and Hapoy New Year.
What the quest is:-
The Quest will run through to the end of the month, with weekly Monday update posts throughout.
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can at join any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
Every week of December I will put up a new post and we can all chat about how we are doing. It’s going to be awesome!!! 😃
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and totally awesome month with lots of running 💥

I manged a couple of runs this week, no swimming but I am pleased with what I have done. I have booked my virtual challenge for next year I will be aiming for 1000km for 2019. Wishing you all many great runs in 2019.
The second week of the quest was a write off for me due to being on call for the majority of the week, but managed a run on Friday and today resulting in me surpassing my yearlong mileage goal: 758.1 km to date and still planning a Christmas Day short run, plus possibly one more after that before we're gone for a week of wintertime fun. There will be no running on our holidays - we'll be too busy with skiing, snowmobiling, and driving, but I'm super pleased to have met this goal! Whoohoo!!! I wasn't so good at getting in the crosstraining, but next week will be all crosstraining so whatever. All is well! Can't wait to see what next year will bring!
Thanks Paula. It’s funny, all summer I’m very careful with my activities so they don’t hinder my running and now I’m being super careful on my icy snowy runs to make sure I don’t fall and hinder my winter holiday plans. A complete 180. But I managed my long run today without a fall despite all the crazy ice so all is looking good so far. It’ll be a nice little break away. Here’s hoping for more snow over the next week 🤞
Thanks Jan. Christmas is pretty low-key for us which is perfect; it’s just really nice to have a bit of time off.
I hope you and your family are able to have a wonderful Christmas as well.
My quest is being hijacked by dragons. I’m going through a tough time emotionally and it’s affecting my running 😥I thought I’d do a long hilly run today to shift the blues. I stopped so many times thinking “I can’t do this”. I walked the last km. It wasn’t a difficult route so it was purely psychological. On the positive side, I did 2 strength classes which were very enjoyable. I’m Doing a 4 mile Turkey trot race on the 26th. A couple of easy, flat runs this week I think to beat off the goblins. And there are no classes which I will miss. Onwards !
Hi Paula, so sorry to hear this, but you recognise what the problem is, and that your emotions can really effect running performance. The exercise and fresh air is beneficial and you will keep beating off those goblins! (gremlins😉)
I hope things improve for you, and that you march into the New Year feeling stronger. Here is a Hug from me...((😙))xxx
Hang in there Paula. Sometimes Christmas is tough - a portion of Grim behind the Glitter. But - the road will always be there for us to run, or walk, and as long as there is movement there is hope. Best wishes to you fellow Runner
I am so sorry to hear you are going through a tough time right now. I know how hard that can be. You have a good plan for the week though; keep the runs easy and don’t be hard on yourself. You are out there doing your best given all you are going through and we are with you always. Take care; the tunnel may feel long at times but you will come out the other side. Enjoy your Turkey Trot; I hope that can help to beat off those pesky goblins.
Hi RFC and VRB’s. Hope all have fabulous Christmases. I know it’s a tough time of year for some, but hopefully fitting in a sneaky run or 2 will help decompress. ❤️
My Quest is to run 10k again which will mark the completion of ju-ju’s Magic 10. Then I’ll start it all over again next time round! I’m also doing the double on New Years Day at our 2 local parkruns - all with my new Garmin (hope I can work it!) 😅
Merry Christmas all, and here’s to a very happy 2019. ❤️🎄🏃♀️🏃🎉
1) Weight (the goal being to end the month no higher than started) not bad, could be better... it's not so much Christmas Day but all the eating up afterwards. The shopping bill seems to be as big as ever so I don't know if I have succeeded in buying less this year!
2) Advent calendar fitness. It's been a really rough year to be trying this but I'm noting the activities to catch up later. It's a lovely little project though and very do-able in normal circumstances and includes challenges such as kind words to others. I hope they do it again next year
3) No running - and my son is walking Google who displays little keenness (although so much 'running around' that my step counts look better than usual!)
4) Not much yoga even though it does me so much good. Some though! (Aided by tealight advent calendar!)
5) Ta da, ta da, ta da... saved the best till last. I HAVE COMPLETED MY VIRTUAL RIVER DERWENT SWIM after four and a half years. Something of a damp squib as the bloomin' asa took it all down off their website 3km out from the end, no spectators, couldn't find the new cozzie I'd bought for the occasion and still had orang-utan legs and pits but I did it and am now virtually bobbing about in the Trent (and wondering how far it is to the Humber)
It's been a crazy busy week with moving house on Wednesday and all the upheaval that comes with that, and now of course Christmas! Well one run was better than none, and it was a great stress buster even though I did have to dig out the foam roller afterwards Ouch! Looking forward to getting a routine going again, would like to kickstart that today by getting out for a run later 🦋
My quest this month is to work on speeding up a tad. I've been following a Jeff Galloway training plan for the past 5 weeks, and this week managed to shave 3 minutes off my previous 5k PB. And that includes walking intervals (in true Jeffing style). . How did that happen?
