Due to a full hip replacement I do my running at an outdoor gym on an elliptical cross trainer. I'm up to (usually) 3 x 1hr in a week. My Apple Watch says I'm going about 5.7 miles. Wasn't too unhappy with this as it's nearly 10k
However today I happened to record a walk with my husband at 4 miles in an hour.
I feel I work reasonably hard on the cross trainer, definitely out of breath at times & legs moving an awful lot quicker than a walk!
So my question .......can I really only be doing c1.7 miles more on the cross trainer than my ambling walk?
I don't know about accuracy of the measurements Hidden , but 5.7 miles is almost 45% further than 4 miles, so significantly further.
Is there a particular reason why you work hard on the trainer and get breathless? Speedwork or tempo runs maybe? Normally 80% of your running should be at a comfortable pace at which you could hold a conversation easily.
It doesn't seem much compared to the ambling walking pace from today. I don't run to breathlessness but just a bit out of puff somewhere during the hour
