Morning lovely Questers! The end is nigh for this month’s Sunny Quest and I’m both happy and sad at the same time. Glad to have finished with lots to celebrate and sad that it’s over. How did it go for you?

For me, there’s a big feeling of relief at getting to the end! This month was super tough with the heatwave. I was aiming for consistency and to keep my running at four or five runs a week. That’s a big tick. There have also been some bonuses with fastest times for 1k, 1 mile, 5k and 10k (the advantage of being a newish runner!) and a longest run of 11km. There was also a quest that popped up half way through of increasing strength and flex. That’s been much less successful and I think now I’m running most days without thinking about it too much, next months quest will be based around that instead. Hopefully the Yoga With Adrienne challenge starting soon (link below) will help!

It’s been really fun chatting with you all and so inspiring to hear all your wins. Sharing things we’ve found hard or not quite achieved yet has been really positive too. So much lovely support here. Thanks for all your contributions!

Hello hello hello! Thank you so much for hosting us questers! My quest themes were:

1) Expanding S&F: And I'm also looking forward to trying to fit in more Yoga, via the magic of YWA!I miss it, as I did a daily practice for more than a year, before starting indoor rowing. So I think I'll join you in that quest, of how to squeeze in that daily Yoga practice!

2) Running Consistency: Looking back, this month went up and down and up for me. Running was the constant, which I was thankful for. I managed to get 3-4 runs in per week, one more than originally planned

3) Cross-Training: Rowing was interrupted by the move of my rowing machine into the living room due to a long-stay guest, but by now, I have found my rhythm again. But in a few weeks, it will move back into the privacy of our guest bedroom again. And it will be better for my rowing. However, we have so much fun (board games, chats, dinners, visits) with our guest, that I wouldn't miss that for the world!

4) Keeping Recovery days: And I managed to keep my recovery days

I feel physically great at the moment, so doing workouts of any kind is a joy!

It sounds like you had a great quest. Running even more than planned-amazing! Visitors can make things tricky but it glad yours were worth the disruption. Getting back in a rhythm is a big win and great to keep those recovery days clear too.

Looking forward to seeing you on the virtual yoga mat! Well done for this month’s quest!

Hello MissUnderstanding and fellow questers. Well done on running 4/5 times a week and breaking all your records!!! Thanks for hosting and keeping us all accountable. my last week has gone well:1) YES - run at least 3 times a week - did exactly that

2) NO -cross train twice a week - only managed to fit in one swim

All my other quests I ticked off earlier in the month so all in all am very pleased with this month. I really need to incorporate strength training at least twice a week so that will be one of my priorities for next month as I train for a HM.

Congratulations on your 3x weekly running. Consistency makes such a difference-that’s a great one to nail. Well done on those other victories too, and I’m sure that cross training one will get ticked off at some point. Great month for you!

Good luck with the HM plan too. Are you training for an event?

Thanks MissUnderstanding I'm thinking of entering a HM in November

Good luck! My first will be October. Still haven’t been beyond 11.2km but I’m trusting the plan will get me there. Aiming to finish rather than set a fast time.

Good luck @MissUnderstanding you still have at least 2 months to prepare for it. I think aiming to finish for your first event sounds like a good plan!!!🤗

Well, I never got to work up to doing a 30km run this month. I did get to do a trail/road HM on holiday, though.

The short heatwave caused a blip in my running, as it did for most of us.

I decided to try a Garmin 10km training plan, with the aim of getting my time for that down to 45 minutes. At the moment the runs are still very same-y. I may carry it over into next month, but if it doesn't start to throw in some variety soon I may skip over some of them.

I’ve enjoyed following your garmin plan exploits-it’s a bit of dirge at the moment! Hopefully it will pick up for you.

Your holiday sounded great-some lovely run reports. I almost feel like I’ve been away too!

MissUnderstanding thank you for hosting this months quest, it's been great to join in even a little. What a month we have all had with runningm, yoga, strength and flex and all the other things everyone has been doing.

Hi MissUnderstanding, thanks for hosting.Like nearly everyone else the heat put paid to consistency plus I was away. I did Parkrun yesterday so am 'back in the saddle'.

Only 6 runs this month and just under 26km but that's 6 runs more than a lot of people :)

It’s hard to get out of a slump and parkrun is the perfect way to do it! The heatwave was so tough. Let’s hope there’s better weather through August! Those six runs are absolutely worth celebrating!

You've been a lovely host MissUnderstanding

You are so right about that feeling of relief at getting to the end. Did I achieve the goals, the modest and unspecific goals I set myself? No, I did not. But on the whole the reasons I didn't were sound and unarguable - there's no arguing with legal deadlines (as a parent, the LA dance to the music of their own drum), a dangerously high temperature and, it seems, the effect of falling off a kerb! So lots didn't happen... but some things did. I did do some self-directed yoga practice even if I didn't get a class in, I did have a bath... and come to think of it I did have a swim in the sea in Kintyre.

Aw, thanks! I’ve really enjoyed this month. So many lovely people to chat to. It sounds like you’ve achieved some lovely things despite the challenges (dealing with LAs is often an absolute nightmare-sympathies there!). Definitely great to focus on the positives. Hoping for a good month for you next month ☀️
