As it was 16k run day and the forecast was cloudy for today but rain for tomorrow. I decided to stick to the plan and went to my sister's place for run as she wanted to do it too. I thought I was well hydrated as I drank a lot of water yesterday, a lot by my standards didnot drink much in the morning as I would not be able to run otherwise. For the first time, I did not do the pre-run stretches as her German Sheppard puppy was being cute and wanted attention/affection and I totally forgot the stretches. It was a perfect 10degC when we started the warm up walk at 1045hrs. We couldnot start at 0900hrs as planned. It felt cold as it always does so I wore a light jacket but started feeling hot pretty soon as there was no sign of any clouds, it was a very clear day full of winter warmth. It did very quickly started feeling really hot and my legs felt a bit heavy until half way. My sister was grumbling that it's too hot and why is it not raining, while I was thanking the rain Gods for being on my side today, lol.
After about 9km, my legs did feel better but I felt tired by the end of 16k and had nothing in the tank after that. Luckily our run ended right in front of a fresh juice shop, so we both had a fresh vegetable juice with lots of ice to replenish ourselves and cool down.
Walked back to her place about 10mins away, did the post run stretches and drove back home. Popped a couple of handfuls of frozen blueberries in my mouth as a colleague who happens to be in her final year of becoming a dietician and also a runner herself, told me the other day they are good for recovery.
Showered, had lunch and went to work a half shift. Looks like the blueberies worked!
