In awe at all you hot runners

I've been sitting at home reading about what you're all up to and feel quite ashamed of myself. I did however try out my first pair of high heels in about 10 years (son is getting married so I don't want to show him up).

All I can say is I'd rather run a 5k in decent trainers than do the 1.5km or so I managed yesterday going to church and back. It reminded me of a whole lot of muscles I'd completely forgotten about, my balance was off, yet I used to do this all day and not even think about it.

Practice makes perfect, I've got a week to stop walking like a builder who's trying on his wife's shoes and start gliding like a catwalk model....I wish 😂😂😂

No need to feel ashamed-we’ve all got a different capacity for dealing with heat and it’s much better to know yourself well enough to make the wise decision not to run.

I’m rubbish in heels. I feel your pain! Good luck. Maybe someone should write an equivalent to c25k for walking in heels training!

Yes!!!!! I’m writing that up tonight. We just need to recruit some inspirational people known for wearing heels to read the podcast commentary and talk about their own personal journey from never thinking they could ever be a heel-wearer and now they wear them three times a week for thirty minutes and we’re sorted. We can be millionaires!

Do not worry about not running in the heat - I haven’t either! I know my limits and this is way beyond them.

Ha ha I know what you mean about heels! They just feel so wobbly and wrong! But you shall glide like a glidey thing I am sure. All the best! 😊

Ha ha, high heels are uncharted waters for us runners 😀. The last time I went shopping for a wedding outfit I was wearing trainers, natch 🙂. The assistant asked if I’d bought a pair of shoes with me. Who me ? 🤷‍♀️ She swanned off to find me a pair to try on with the dress she’d picked out for me. Came back with skyscraper heels in “nude” 😀. I couldn’t walk in them. I wasn’t prepared to inflict them on myself, or anyone else for that matter ☺️ I settled for more modest ones. Lovely and only £40 The skyscrapers she’d picked out were £400 😳.

As it was, on the day of the wedding, when I walked into church my husband stopped me in my tracks to look down at my feet. What’s up?, I asked ? “Just checking you’re not wearing wellies”, he replied ☺️😁. Cheek!
