Finished with Get Started (NRC)

Well, I finished my consolidation period as planned, using several runs of the NRC Get Started plan at a time.

Below is the NRC plan and how I ran it, and it looks complicated. But it was simply following the mandatory runs, sometimes swapping these, and then filling the warmup period with optional runs.

So that meant that it took me 2.5 weeks to finish the originally 4-week NRC Get Started plan, which I think is great, considering that I had graduated the second time from C25k just before.

But more valuable was a solid introduction to every kind of run Coach Bennett thought useful for me at this stage, from understanding why 5min runs are also worth doing, to Fartleks, intervals, and speed runs.

Week 1‘s First Run - 20-min Easy Run

Week 1’s Next Run - 22-min Easy Run

16/06/2022

Week 2’s First Long Run - 35-min Easy Run

18/06/2022

Week 2’s First Speed Run - 27-min Intervals

22/06/2022

Week 1‘s Optional Run - 5-min Easy Run

Week 2’s Optional Run - 7-min Easy Run

Week 3’s Next Speed Run - 25-min Intervals

24/06/2022

Week 3’s Optional Run - 10-min Easy Run

Week 3‘s Third Run - 25-min Easy Run

28/06/2022

Week 4’s Next Long Run - 42-min Easy Run

01/07/2022

Week 4’s Optional Run - 12-min Easy Run

Week 4‘s Third Speed Run - 19-min Fartlek

And the biggest learning on this journey was to deepen my appreciation for the core message of:

Celebrate every run!

So happy running, everyone and celebrate those runs… every single one of them!

Next on my consolidation journey: NRC’s 5k plan.

I really like seeing it all laid out like that. You’ve done really well to get it done. I’m working my way through the half marathon plan and absolutely loving the variety. This evening’s hill speed run is my new favourite. I hope that comes up for you!

Yeah, I also love the diversity in the NRC offer. Through NRC I realised there is still so much more to runnjng! I did a hill sprint NRC session last year, and loved it!
