2nd runiversary

Well yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of me randomly deciding to take up C25K.

I was out on a ‘speed repeat’ run with Garmin coach, just one of them runs you aren’t in the mood for - I procrastinated somewhat and only got out of the door at 5pm where I usually prefer to be out before 6am!

The run went Ok in the most part, I was hoping to slow jog the recovery sessions, however most of them ended up as a 2 minute walk with 1.5 minute jog before the silly 3.5 minute fast bit (around 5’30”/km).

Didn’t help that I ran the warm up 1.6km too fast, I had it in mind that I’d bust my 5km PB as it was the anniversary- I didn’t! 😂.

However I could see that my recently vastly improved 10k was in range of being broken again, so after 7 very exhausting speed sessions, I ran the cool-down at a time to bust the 10k PB, and stopped it as soon as the distance clicked past 10km. (Don’t worry I have a set cool-down walk after the programmed cool-down finishes).

Garmin didn’t like it, by calling it ‘unproductive’ and then congratulated me for knocking 52 seconds off my 10k time.

Got to love the logic 😂

Great result Reggit! It's weird how a run so often turns out different from the way we expect it to be. I think it's probably about my 2yr runniversary as well - that lockdown escape time!

I find that Garmin doesn't like longer runs. The sweet spot for it increasing my VO₂Max is about 3km. It's OK with 5km, but drops it for 10km and over.

I’ve found similar, but it’s usually happy with intervals. Not this time….

Have a tempo (6k) scheduled for tomorrow, it doesn’t like them and neither do I 😂. Then a 13k on Saturday. I’m expecting my VO2max to drop a couple of points!

Don’t mind Garmin. A watch is just a watch. Every run is productive. Congratulations on your 2nd year running anniversary and well done too on your run. Great effort.
