It’s been a while

I started running in 2018 and got to 5 and 10k but then for no apparent reason I stopped. Assumed it was temporary but I confess it’s been a while! I still help at parkrun and read all HU updated so my head still thinks ‘runner’! 😆 After reading AlMorr’s post yesterday (we started almost the same day) I was shamed into a restart. Did a week 1 run but may do week 3 next. It was lovely to be out again.

I am so happy to know that you also reran run 1 of week 1 of C25K after reading my post yesterday Sybilw, you can choose whichever week you want. I still have the C25K app on my Smartphone.Perhaps you didn't realise that when I was doing C25K back in 2018 I did not have the Smartphone I have now, my old Smartphone which I still have but only for music did not have enough memory to install the C25K app, however, I did have an upto date laptop, so I memorised all the 27 runs from my laptop and ran all of them from memory only using the timer on the phone, the only mistake I made was on week 3 when I ran an extra 3🏃🏾🏃🏾🏃🏾 minutes run, it should have only been 2/3 minute runs, not 3. 🏃🏾🏃🏾

I didn't realise you didn't have the app when you did c25k Al. Well done for doing it without someone providing the wisdom. Jo Whiley definitely kept me going through those 9 weeks.

Not just that Dexy, not having the app I missed being told at the end of week 6 that I was now "officially a runner", once I got the app on my new Smartphone I reran the run 3 runs of weeks 5 to 9, its a pity that I didn't have it on my graduation run.

PS, in preparation for the London Vitality Virtual 10,000 in now only two weeks time I ran my fastest 10K of the year this morning in a time of 1.11.58, I think you hope to run in London a time like that, I hope your preparations are going well 👍.

Well done on your time. I did the virtual one 2 years ago

I think you'll do it quicker than me Al. I'd be very happy to get that time.

As long as you enjoy the run and the sites of London that is the main thing.

That is so true Al, and I definitely shall.

Thanks for the (albeit unintentional) nudge AlMorr. It was lovely to be out on the tracks again. I had a bit of a tech fail too - couldn’t find my headphones - but just carried my phone. I’m looking forward to the journey again. Last time I wasn’t at all convinced I could do it as on older complete running novice. I know better now.

I hadn’t realised you’d done C25K by memory Al - impressive! Hope you’re virtual Vitality 10k training is going well, it looks as though you’ll do it in a great time!

My training for the London Vitality Virtual 10,000 is going very well thank you Oldgirlruns, I hope you are keeping well, I am not sure how many of "The Southsea Crew" are running in London or virtually like me in the London Vitality Virtual 10,000, the run in London is on the 2nd May, I intend to run the virtual version on Wednesday 4th May.

It’s just Dexy5 and UpTheStanley doing the Vitality 10k from here Al. But there’s a group of familiar names planning a meet up and I expect there’ll be lots of posts about it before and after the event! Good luck with your run on the 4th!

Lovely to see you back here again Sybilw. Sometimes life just takes over, and it has to be said we have been through very strange times. But you are a runner and it won't take you long to get back to where you were. Some people have returned by doing the W3 runs, but you just take your time and do what feels right.😃

Thanks Dexy. Yes I’m thinking week 3 will be better as otherwise I’d find it a bit slow. As pure coincidence my youngest daughter started again today! She wasn’t fond of the weather as she liked it cold whereas spring 2018 was very warm. I’m glad to be back.

Whoops. I meant R3 runs, but if you want to break in gently doing all the runs from W3 is a great idea to build up those muscles again, and avoid injuries

Slow and steady!

Hello, so glad to see you here again! I believe we might have started RunLEJOG4 at the same time? I’m still at it, having been transferred to a later cohort! 🤣🤣

I’m also redoing C25k! We got this!

It’s great to see another of my trailblazers out there again… I was a couple of months behind you guys so you were amongst the first to show me that C25K was possible!

Welcome back to running and enjoy each and every step.

Thank you. I know I was amazed it could work considering I’d NEVER run. Ever. Pure magic. I’ve never left this community though so I knew I’d be back!
