Loved the C25K programme, and found somebody talking in my ear really motivated me to keep running (didn't want to disappoint my mentor by stopping!). I've got a place to do this years Great North Run so would really appreciate any recommendations for a similar programme to help me to progress to initially 10k, and then half marathon. There seems to be a few options out there, just wondering which programmes other runners have found worked for them, any with a mentor that talks to you?
Thanks

Hi AT17W , like many people on here I used the Magic Plan - healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... - to get to 10K. However it's not an app.
Lots of people seem to like guided runs from Nike Run Club - haven't used any myself though. I'm not keen on training, I prefer to run as I please, and do better with minimal plans. I'm a weirdo though.
I didn't use it myself but the magic plan which Cmoi has linked to is the one most here have used .Then I think for the HM you have more options available such as NRC (Nike run club) and Bupa also do a plan !
I didn't use the Magic Plan myself, but I did follow the general 10% maximum increase per week rule, with a mix of runs of different types and lengths during the week.
Again, there are some folks who like Nike Run Club (NRC) but I've never gone for someone telling me what to do. This might be why I'm not in a club and prefer solo runs over races.
Hi I used Juju's magic plan as mentioned above. I liked it because it gave me structure. Along side I used NRC podcasts. Some were guided runs but others just famous runners talking about their journeys. I would recommend both as a good follow on from C25k. It can take a while before you have the confidence to free style
Doing a 15Min run on the magic plan was very alien to start with !
I'm doing the same as Jogunlikely. I'm using the Magic Plan but as I enjoy the chatter, I use an equivalent time/distance guided run from the Nike Run Club appThere are lots of downloadable plans (as someone has mentioned, Bupa do one, as do Runners World and so on) but I just liked the look of the Magic Plan and there are a suite of videos for each week if you follow the link given. Good luck!
Probably the way not to do it, butI figured that if I can run 5 at easy pace I could do 10, so I just did it at a steady pace. I did read all the plans before hand. I did the same for 10 - 15 as well. The NRC 10k runs are ok (if a bit too American).
Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I'm liking the look of the magic plan, it seems achievable 🤞 but will also check out the guided runs as sometimes I need a verbal prompt to keep me moving. Here goes!!
I was just going to say, I used the magic plan to extend my running to 60 minutes, then extended my long run by 1k each week until I hit 10k. I did use some of the NRC guided runs at the time. This time round (coming back after a long break) I'm using the NRC 10k plan but I think I would've found it a bit too intense as a 'newbie' straight after c25k so your strategy sounds great 👍
