Uphill or downhill?

When I was a kid, I remember watching a programme about optical illusions. I remember there was a hill and although it appeared to be uphill things would behave as if it were downhill, so they would freewheel up it, but struggle to get down it.

This morning was a bit like that running in windy Devon. I confess, having walked the dog, I nearly bailed. It's very windy and the wind is cold.

The everlasting questions of 'what do I wear in this weather?' and 'can I be bothered?' flitted round my head while walking the dog home.

I decided to do a short one and come back if it was ridiculous out there.

In the end I did 5K and it was fine, but I did feel like I was running up hill a lot of the time, especially running downhill against the wind - like that TV programme years ago.

Mr Garmin has rewarded me on my return, by telling me my fitness age is 21! I know it's not very scientific, but it amuses me and my kids don't need to know the truth🤣🤣🤣

Happy running everyone. Don't get blown away!

I remember watching that about that hill! I hoped you were going to say you'd tried running up or would it be down it ?🤣But I can imagine that running downhill would feel like going up in these storms. Well done for not giving in and sticking out out 👍

Like you I love Mr Garmin's idea of my fitness age, my youngest was 27 but at the moment he's steadily increasing my age 😭

Here's good for a giggle though.

The one I remember is Electric Brae on the Ayrshire coast.

And in general they're called Gravity Hills: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...
