It seems odd but my pace always slows when I run downhill. I don’t intend to put the breaks on so does anyone have any tips?

Tips for running downhill?
In my experience it’s good not to go too fast on the downhill. It does my knees in. I think you are supposed to try to keep your form (rather than running with arms in the air shouting woooooohoooooo or even wheeeeeeeeeeeee) ☺️
Running downhill is harder on your body than running uphill so make sure you have the right form for maximum benefit
I know the rules are to keep at a nice even pace but I see a non-sprinted downhill section as one of life's wasted opportunities 😁 That's me, arms in the air and shouting. I LOVE coming down a hill. I made all the effort to get up there, I'm flipping well going to enjoy coming down again, with a fanfare. I just go for it, seasoned runners likely tutting as I happily fly by. 🚀
Let the gravity help you and try and loosen up a bit - that’s the advice I once got in a club 👌🏽
Its hard, I do quite a bit on my trail. For me, I let my body weight take me, use my glutes and arms to power ( I like to go as fast as I can downhill) and relax as much as I can. Strong ankles are a must.
About 50 years ago, when only nutters ran, someone famous said they ran downhill backwards to ease the strain on their calf muscles. Ron Hill maybe?
Not a serious tip, btw 😊
Thanks everyone- so I think I’m going to try to lean into the downhills a little (perhaps not as freely as Sqkr tho!) and use a bit of glute oomph.
