I’ve been suffering for about a month with bad pain in my right foot and putting it down to various different things as you do.
First I thought it was my bunion even though I’ve had it years never had any pain.
Then I thought it was my new running shoes being tight even though I always wear the same brand ,model and size.
Then I thought this just blooming hurts so much I’m in excruciating pain I can walk around all day in doors and move my toes and feet with no pain whatsoever until I put on a shoe or running shoe or slipper and I can’t bear it .
Looked online and been taking ibuprofen now I’m taking cherry supplements and using ice to no avail.
Any body else have it and do something that works?

I'd never laugh at gout Mumpark , having seen what my husband went through with it. While supplements or tweaking your diet might help, I agree with nowster that you definitely need a proper medical opinion.
Nobody would laugh at you. I have seen many people who have suffered with this and it certainly is not pleasant. Your GP should be able to provide medication and advice.
One person I know suffered with gout brought on by oily fish and then spent a few weeks on medication to bring it back under control.
Ouch my friend has this. Deffo go and see your doctor so they can rule it out or confirm it. It may be something else but better to know. Best of luck 😊.
If it is gout, there are a range of preventive measures including prescribed medications and evidence based changes to diet that your GP will be able to advise you on.
Ibuprofen is helpful in managing gouty pain and inflammation, but there are a range of risks to long term ibuprofen use, especially as we age, so please don’t use ibuprofen for long periods of time without first seeing your GP.

Hi, I have had gout for years now, the doctor prescribed Allopurinol, this controls the ac id build up that causes gout. I now say "I don't have gout, I have Alopurinol.
Hello Mumpark, I believe that gout makes the toe hot and red and any covering of the toe is painful and you would need medication. Could it be something else? I too have bunions and I started getting pain in my toe from running. I have been seeing a podiatrist who has diagnosed, with ultrasound, arthritis. Basically it’s a Hallux Rigidus, although I still have a good range of movement. I’ve had shockwave therapy, orthotics and an Ostenil (hyaluronic acid) injection in the toe with no real benefit. Like you not much pain when I walk around the house barefoot (pain doesn’t go away with gout). I have been advised to wear wide shoes, trainers a size larger than normal, and buy shoes from a specialist like Sole Bliss which are made especially for people with toe problems. My next step will be to have a steroid injection and avoid an operation at all costs! Unfortunately I’ve had to give up running.😞
Gout is incredibly painful and ibuprofen is useless during bad attacks, sufferers need anti-inflamatory meds. I find it worse than a toothache. However, gout doesn't go on for a month. See a doctor.
