Half way through!

Wow what a week it has been! I can definetely say that I was out of my comfort zone and I loved it!

Run1 40mins Easy - I did my usual route in the woods, first 15minutes up the hill. I remember I used to not like that hill when I was running up it first couple of times, but now I have to admit it must be making my legs stronger as it is somewhat easier to make it to the top. Distance 5.63k

Run2 40mins Tempo - where to start 😱 I was dreading this run the night before. I was reading the "how to" do Tempo runs and I was simply scared of going that hard. But no matter how scared I was, morning came and I had to get my shoes on and get it done. The plan was:

4mins warm up jog + 15mins Tempo + 3mins light jog + 15mins Tempo + 3mins cool down.

The first 15 mins of Tempo run caught me on a hill. I somewhat managed to run up it, kept continous "comfortably hard"pace and the final few minutes were really hard to keep at that pace. After the slow jog to recover, I started 2nd Tempo run and that is when I could not follow it through exactly how it supposed to be. After 9minutes of running I felt dizzy and needed to slow down to walk as I was affraid I will blackout. I walked slow for 2 minutes and I felt good again so continued with another 6minutes of Tempo. Not exactly how I planned it, but it was first attempt on a Tempo Runs. Distance 6k

Run3 5miles - I took it slow today as I still feel my legs tired after Tempo run. Took me 54minutes and a bit to finish the run and at the end I could feel I was done for today 😅.

Altogether 19.68k this week, so not too bad. I wonder if I have not gone too hard on the Tempo Run, should I slow down? Or is it that hill? Unfortunately any route I take from where I live, will make me run up at least 1 long hill.

Well done!

Are you enjoying the challenge? 👍

I’m avoiding hills on my plan for everything but the “easy” paced runs and the hill workouts. It’s too much for me to attempt a steady quick pace and a hill.

So, if you know the pace and run time for segments or laps, you have an idea of distances and check the map. If there’s a steep hill in the way, I’d increase the warm up time so I’m ascending the hill during the warm up. It’s a faff to work out but it beats having to run fast up the hill. 🙂

I guess I will have to plan my routes better from now on haha it was really hard to run after I exhausted myself up that hill x
