What happens when you run with the lads

Yesterday things didn't go quite as planned. I had a yoga class but it was at a venue I don't know and I couldn't open the doors to get in. I admitted defeat and got home to another 'disruption' - my working day was supposed to be spent sorting out documents and filling out forms but the project has been put on hold. I was only sorry I'd already done half of it, though I'm assured it will eventually be resurrected. Well, given all this free time and the sun was shining and I was already wearing most of my running kit (I only own one pair of leggings so wear them for yoga too) what's a girl to do?

For the last few weeks husband (and his friend while we were away) has been joining me on the run but he was deep into something important looking so I set off on my own. I'd almost forgotten what it was like not to have to make small talk! Just me, some music and Coach Bennett. Decided to do 6k as I haven't done it for a while. Starting the run I felt I was going a bit fast. For the first km Coach B said to concentrate on breathing properly, so I decided as long as I was comfortable I'd just go with whatever speed I liked.

The weather was variable, sometimes sunny but then the clouds started gathering. Reached 6k and there was still a way to go until I got home so decided to carry on running in case it started raining. Stopped at 7k and felt very good about it (especially as it didn't rain) and by the time I got home had covered over 8km.

When I checked my stats NRC had given me 3 Achievements - a new 5km PB (38:08), the most ground covered in a run and fastest mile. At 11'59" for the mile I don't think I'm going to be breaking any world records yet lol. I think all this running with men has made me run faster!

It was fabulous to be out in 'my' fields, by my river again, the tide was very high. I even saw a bird which might have been an owl swooping over the water. Very lucky to live in such an amazing place.

Well done and congratulations on the PB! And the other achievements too 👏 You were definitely on a roll there by the sound of it.

I did giggle though about the doors thing. That’s not good if they don't make it easy to get into the building 😂 But their loss was your gain!

That water looks cold 🥶

Thank you, I messaged the instructor and apparently the doors are very hard to open so it's not just me being puny 😂The water is always pretty chilly. I'm definitely doing my best to stay out of it until mid summer!

Your tale reminded me of when I was in a posh restaurant and I couldn’t even find the door to the loos! They had “blended” the door into the pattern on the wall on purpose which was all very well but sort of missed the point of having a door in the first place 😂

How bizarre to have doors that people can’t open OBK - well I suppose it keeps the venue from getting overcrowded! But it meant you could get out for a run in what looks to be a beautiful place so it turned out well in the end! Well done on the PB - who needs world records when we have PBs?!

It was a church - big heavy doors! Maybe it's a message from up above that I should be outside on a sunny day not doing stretches on the floor!

Loved reading your post. Wow! What a great set of achievements. … and they’re most definitely *your* world records! 💫 And, even more importantly, you had an amazing time. Fantastic.🙌
