Hi - could you recommend a or an app to use to get me from 5 - 10km in running? I've found Ju-Ju's Magic Plan and was wondering if there are others? thank you!
5-10km plan anywhere?: Hi - could you... - Bridge to 10K
5-10km plan anywhere?
In the days before this forum or Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan, many of us went from 5-10K by adding on a kilometre every week to our long run.
If you decide to do this, then mix up your other two runs so your week would look a bit like this:
1 x 5K steady run
1 x shorter run (about 3K) doing either intervals, faartleks, hills. Alternate this every week if you want to add variety.
1 x longer run, adding 1K, keep the pace slow.
You could also cross train on your rest days and do some strength training as it all helps to support a running body and will help to keep injuries at bay as you get used to longer running.
If the 1K is too much then you could increase every two weeks or increase by half a kilometre every week. You’ll know how your body feels but don't be in a hurry and take your time.
Most of all, enjoy it! Good luck 🍀
I don't know of an app for this .Personally I did it they way Irishprincess has described with a 3 run routine of 1x steady 5k, 1x quicker or Fartlek 3k, and 1x slower longer run gradually increasing the distance .
But many swear by Ju ju's plan 😁
I did the C25k Stepping Stones podcasts free to download from this forum and also the very fab Sami Murphy Bridge to 10km podcasts. The Sami one is five weeks i think, run three times a week. All the music is original. Most of it was new to me but I really liked it except for two or three She tells you exactly what to do
It was in a download file on here somewhere it might still be pinned The mods might know where it is The first run was a bit quiet but they sorted the sound after that
I’ve still got it and love to run it.
Hi I did the bridge to 10 k bluefin podcast it has music as well very weird music but hey ho anything different for a change.I’ve done this a couple of times and go back to it every so often.
I don’t think it comes as an app
