I have been hankering to run a half marathon but everytime I think about the distance of the run it feels to long. But yesterday I decided that if I was ever going to conquer the distance I needed to start building up my run length. I have already run 12K so thought I would try and increase to 15K. The route I took includes part of the Bristol Half Marathon route which encouraged me. As usual the first 1-2K was based on getting my mind into the right place for a long run. The next 3-5K was based on getting into a rhythm. The 5-10K was the I can run 10K no problem mindset and then I needed to be positive and determined to run the 15K I had set myself. After 1.30hrs I was nearing 14K I just needed to keep my legs going for a little longer. Then at 1.40 hrs I had completed 15.16K and was done . The weather stayed on my side all the way through. My legs had survived and I felt exhillerated. Half Marathon your in my sights.

Well done. As Instructor57 , says, only 1.1k to 10 miles and then it's only the equivilent of adding a parkrun to 10 miles. Keep building slowly but steadily (maybe adding 500m or 1k to your long run) and you will almost certainly get there.
