Today I completed the Pretty Muddy Race for Life 5k for Cancer research with my son and his partner.
It was indeed very, very muddy and I found it much more tiring than a parkrun. Running through wet grass, mud and bouncing on space hoppers is exhausting but what great fun.
My hat has been thrown in the bin, my trainers recovering outside and my new buff in the washer.
Running with squelching wet feet was an experience but would I do it again? Of course I would for such a great cause. Could I have done this 6 months ago? Not a chance so thank you C25K and all you lovely people on the forum giving support and help.
Great run for you today Alan 99, despite the muddy conditions you enjoyed your run, congratulations, it was much more tiring than a normal 5K parkrun because of the conditions
Some parkruns are cancelled because of another running event in that park, but if that event is a 5K run at the same time as a parkrun and on the exact same course why not combine the two if that was possible.
This one was a 5k but with obstacles like a horse doing the Grand National π€£. Things to climb over, paddling pools to go through, cargo netting to crawl through, walls to climb, space hoppers to bounce on etc etc. So it was more like a 5k assault course π π€£π€£
Fantastic photo - you clearly enjoyed yourself! Perfect conditions for a Pretty Muddy run by the sounds of it - and great that you ran it with your son and his partner. Well done!πππ
That sounds absolutely wonderful Hidden , well done. I'd love to do an event that included space-hopper bouncing. It's so much more me than running as fast as possible looking at my watch!
Hats off! Sounds like hell, each to their own. Last time I was offered the "opportunity" of a muddy run, I decided to babysit a distraught toddler while the others did it. I still believe it was the right decision!
