A Running Performance … like theatre … and all sorts

I’ve been so busy that I haven’t posted any run reports! 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I’ve been running, and watching others run, and planning future running!

After my 10k on Sunday I went to this sparkly site-specific one-woman performance all about women who run, the canal locks where so many run, and the history of courageous women murdered when travelling alone on the canals! Sounds grim, but it was really good and at the canal locks where, yes, many runners passed by during the performance, but all planned!

And of course I’m also mightily proud that I didn’t collapse in a heap for the rest of the day after my 10k, but that we went out to a performance where we had to walk and stand for 2 hours!

Tuesday, I did a mini run, 2.4K, just to recover, finishing also my 2nd season of Zombies, Run. I’m not using that app so much anymore, and my subscription also runs out on Christmas. It was good, but I don’t need the Zombie support anymore, and I have enough sports bras, thank you very much! But on that mini run, I really could feel my feet aching. So 10k still affects me quite a bit!

So today, Thursday, a slow 5k? Saw there was a gap between phases of rain pouring down, at around 3pm, left work early (today was a flex day, I planned to get back to work after the run), gear, apps, out the door, 700 m onwards and the rain just started chucking down!

But I ran on, ignoring the little extending loop (even wetter grass) and just clocking up ca 4.5k. It wasn’t great, I didn’t like this run at all. Completely wet through and through. And I still felt tired and not fresh and too full, still 2 hours after lunch!

Home showered, another 2 hours work. Done. Dinner. And NOW I feel great!

But that unhappy me discovered a new Runkeeper functionality that I didn’t know existed. When you chose a sad face, which I seem to have done for the first time ever today (mhmh) you get to specify the body parts that ached or chose the weather. Huh 🤔! I really didn’t know this existed!

Anyway. I’m running. And also did the last of YWA RESET today. Tomorrow Friday, the Pilates challenge starts, and then Monday I’m on my new plan! Woohoo!

Oh, and I’m halfway on RunLEJOG! 🤣🤣🤣

Er....I'm tired just reading that. Do you need to ease off a tad maybe???? Hats off to you for that though.

Wow! I’m in awe! I’m in full on sloth mode…blaming the weather (it rained non stop today) and residual ‘meh’ ness from my 3rd jab on Monday.

Me too! Definitely blaming the sodden weather today. I had a short run planned to cap off the month. I'm just glad I was able to walk to and from the dentist's without getting soaked this morning.

Well, we all need our ‘meh‘ at times. My yoga is at the moment ‘meh’. And I think I can feel the resulting un-released tensions in my buttockses (is there a plural?)! 🤣🤣

And my runs are pretty short and very very slow compared to any of yours.

So nothing against a good phase of ‘meh’ whilst the body gears up for the next phase of ‘woohoo’

You make me tired all the running and exercising your doing. Didn’t go out at 6 this morning chucking down and didn’t have the appropriate waterproof jacket, have ordered one today, did ironing instead , would rather be walking. Don’t you have a rest day phew😊

Oh I do! But I’m also panic if I don’t run 2 days, as I am afraid I might not be a runner after all (even after 18 months of running).

But I am ultra-slow runner. And the daily yoga is often very very short.

My rowing has fallen behind, but I think that’s ok especially if I’ll be doing both yoga and Pilates.

So it probably sounds more than it is, and I think the distance you put in regularly yourself walking and jeffing (and the speed) is something I can only dream of.

You’ve had a busy time, the performance sounds really good and the running well it has its ups and downs, i too am looking forward to pilates,

I read your post and now I am feeling tired... do you also have moments when you sit? 😜

… still to many of them! Those 3 runs and one performance were over 6 days, so it probably sounds more than it was.

But it’s so nice to be asked that!! A few years ago, my health and fitness would have allowed me to do only one thing for the whole of the weekend, and the rest would have been to recuperate from that. So going to a theatre performance after a 10k is a big health step for me! So it is so nice being asked that!
