Help request for newbie with hamstring knee pain

After completing C25K a few months back I was really enjoying my 3 runs a week on a treadmill and looking forward to progressing to running outdoors and trying my local Park Runs. Unfortunately, within a few weeks of finishing I started getting a lot of pain in the back of my left knee. A telephone physio appointment through my Gp said it was likely my hamstring and gave me exercises to do. It gradually improved but still plays up if it walk a lot in a day (~15k+ steps) and recently my right knee was doing the same and I could barely walk until I’d rested it. I really want to return to my running (perhaps jeffing) but am worried it’ll make things worse. Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you.

Sorry that you are struggling with this right now, but it might be time to go and see a Sports Physio'. This will give you an accurate diagnosis of what is going on.Once you have that, you will get some advice on the type of exercise you can do to improve things. The trouble with not really knowing what is causing it, is that you may do more damage of you try to run or even walk/run:)

Totally agree with Oldfloss in getting expert advice from a sports physio. Also, if you haven’t already, have a gait analysis in a running shop to make sure you get the right shoes for your running style.
