Hi, I have a pain going from buttock to knee & cases some weakness, I think it may be sciatica? Is a leg roller good for this?

Thankyou

I can’t advise on the foam roller as I’ve never used one but I do have a lot of experience of sciatica! It’s a hot pain that radiates out and you should be able to feel it coming from your lower back (it passes through the buttock but if it’s starting there it’s probably not sciatica). It can cause weakness as well. If you think it is that I recommend a chat with a GP as physio is the only thing that’s ever helped me. Good luck!

Thanks, yes I’m seeing a physio because of back pain next week, so will ask him then. The back pain eases when I run, but the leg pain stops me running(& I’ve only just started!)I feel a right old crock!

I also find my back pain improves when I run! If it helps I had my first bad attack of sciatica when I was 23 and as fit as I’ve ever been so it’s not just an age thing. Good luck with the physio, it helped me a lot so I hope the same for you!

What a shame you are having pain issues, hopefully your physio will it you right and over time your body will get used to running and the pains will go. Happy running 🤗

Definitely speak to an expert (your Physio). I had leg pain and tried to help it by stretching and foam rolling. When I eventually saw a physio she said I had been overstretching (who knew that was possible) and shouldn't be foam rolling. Once I saw the physio I was back running pain free within 3 weeks.

Thankyou, I was wondering if I should be using a foam roller, but will now wait until I see the physio
