As my son is off enjoying himself today I decided to do a 5k run on my own. I've run 3 times in the last week, once with 4 minute intervals which was a killer, then the first two runs of C25K with my son who wants to get fit. I was really looking forward to this longer run.
Now I don't know if it was because I didn't drink enough water yesterday or whether the warmer weather was more of an issue but I found it really hard to get going. My legs felt like lead at the start and my usual burst of energy towards the end never really kicked in. Not only that, my watch kept shouting my heart rate % at me, 70%, 80%, 92% and finally 101%. I was expecting to keel over. Strangely I didn't feel as though I was particularly exerting myself, I could still say a sentence out loud no trouble. I can't work out how to turn these annoying notifications off, though I managed it the other day (it used to yell my pace at me, which was annoying too).
Anyway, I did my 5k in a shade under 45 minutes which I'm quite happy with. Apparently I covered nearly 7km on the entire excursion. I'm now looking forward to doing wk1 run3 with son on Sunday, or as I call it, my speed training
