What a week! I had a call to ask if I wanted to teach in September in a temporary position so I said yes, as I feel quite excited to be going back to teaching... BUT I haven't taught since I started running late 2019, so have signed up for a 10k race in September to make sure I still get me time and keep running!!! It is a 'Relish Running' race in Forest of Dean on a brand new trail made out of an old railway track. Looks lovely. Very very nervous about doing a race on my own but also quite excited!! Thought this might go well in the plan to do a half marathon in October time too....

Thank you! Hope so!

Oh well done on the job front and for signing up for the race! I did 26 years in the classroom so know the effort finding a bit of “me time” takes. Good luck with it all.

Yes I am hoping to maintain my running so I can stay fit. School will not take over! I'll just keep repeating that too myself!

Amazing, you’ve got a busy time coming up and running will complement teaching

I hope so. I already heard two of the children say they like running so maybe we can spread the love in school!

Running and talking about running with youngsters is so much fun, and I’m always surprised when my teenage grandchildren say things like “you are so athletic nannie” it makes me laugh because i’m really not i just run a bit

Woohoo Cowlady, what great news on all counts! 🎉

I hear Relish Running hold great events and you’re sure to have fun. It sounds like a fantastic course, and great prep for your HM.

Go you! 👊

One good thing about old railway tracks is that the gradients are smooth and never steeper than 1 in 30, generally very much less than that.

Yes hoping it is quite flat!!

Good luck on both the job and the race. I know how hard it is for teachers to squeeze in ‘me’ time so make sure you plan it in and stick to it. Self care is so important in such a full on crazy job 🤪

I am going to really try to. I think I'd better plan time to come in here too as this forum is inspirational!

Congrats on the new job and on signing in on the race. Good luck on beforehand on both!
