This morning I woke up and thought “What have I done!”.
As mentioned on here before I have two younger, slimmer, fitter sisters who have been running for yonks and are in training for the Cardiff Half-Marathon. And one of my goals from the start of the C25k programme was just to get out for a run with them, so they could have a good laugh at my feeble attempts at running.
So after a few glasses of wine last night, I was on the phone to my sisters, and dismissing the crazy suggestion of joining them on their half (as I’ve learned “us runners” call them!), when they said “well, what about the Cardiff 10k, we are doing that as well?”.
And the problem was that it fitted in so nicely - having just done my first 5k, I plan to join Ju-Ju’s 8-week programme starting on 15th June, and so (in theory at least, with a following wind, barring injury, etc etc) by mid-August I should run my first 10k...
...and the Cardiff 10k is on 2nd September
...and is described as a flat one, ideal for first-timers.
So, saying to myself “who dares wins, Rodney”, I logged and signed up there and then.
Gulp.
Oh well, it’s good to have a goal to aim for, eh? See you on the 15th Ju-ju
