A 30 minute run to collect the car (from where we had left it in the pub car park last night after our meal out), accompanied by NRC's "I don't want to run" run.....
Now that sentence sounds like it should be accompanied by tales of a hangover, but no, I really can't do that anymore; busy mum life kind of decides that for you and those days are long gone. A celebratory Pimms and a glass of wine were just lovely.
So the reason for the not wanting to run? To be honest, I don't really know. ๐ค I think it is that things are so busy at the moment, that I can't run as frequently as I would like and then it knocks my confidence.
When I saw the drizzle I nearly gave in to my husband's offer of a lift to pick up the car on his way to play tennis. I am now proud and relieved I said no. He left without me, so I had to run to get the car to ensure I would be back in time to drop our daughter at her weekend job.
After my warm up walk I took a left turn down the country track, immediately struck by how different everything looked in the mizzle (misty-drizzle), and took a quick photo to compare it to last week's sunny photo in the same spot. The South Downs were invisible, cloaked in low cloud and mist. The cows were in the far field this morning, so I came across them all lined up as I rounded the corner in the track, cropping the hedgerow for their breakfast. I ran down the track, between the farm buildings and the horses shrouded in their uv-coats that protect them from the sun and pesky flies, up the hollow and under the dis-used railway bridge towards the main road. This is a busy, but thankfully short, stretch of main road that I need to run before crossing it and onto the country lane that runs behind the pub where the car is parked, and leads out into peaceful woodland. The guided run was great, with Coach Bennett motivating me without judging me. I ran the 25 minutes of the guided run and added on another 5 for the 30 minutes required for the Magic Plan. I slowed down for a cool down walk back up the lane to the rear entrance to the pub garden, across the wet lawn and into the car park.
I feel much better for my run and found the mizzle so refreshing to run in. I wore leggings and t-shirt, knowing I'd bake in a waterproof. I'm glad that I didn't wear one - I passed runners in waterproof jackets and others with jackets tied round their waists as I drove home and they looked hot.
dijep with her lovely photos has inspired me to take more of my own during my runs. Photos are a lovely reminder and it also motivates me as I run along looking for something to photograph. Thanks dijep ๐ค.
Happy running all ๐
