I can manage 5k before work but the longer runs I leave to the weekend, figuring I get 2 chances then - so if I feel like a lie on Saturday....so I'd managed 5k midweek in 31'13" - last Saturday I was due to to run 7k. Wasn't in the mood on Sat. morning. Couldn't motivate myself to run in the evening. Plus there's a niggling restriction in my back that tells me I need to see Jeremy the magic Osteopath. So Saturday evening the shoes come out, the running kit is ready, I even have a bottle ready (I hate to carry anything when I'm running).
Sunday wakes up and I am dozing. I doze away and the sun begins to beat down harder. By the time I make it out, it's really too hot. And I don't want to do this. And I wasted yesterday, didn't get done my of list to-do's, didn't get shortlisted for that job, have loads of overdue stuff at work...I recognise the downward spiral and search a 7k playlist. Didn't know any of the songs but set off. And the magic happened. Up Brockham Lane, hugging the shade, and along the Dorking Road, again mostly shady. 3.5k. I turn round and run back; what can I say? Nothing eventful, I just ran the 7k, got home and had a much better Sunday than the one I would've had. If I hadn't! 44'34". Week 4 goes to 8k. Do it Saturday.
