This was my third run since my 10k 9 days ago and I still just simply want to do a nice, slow, relaxed run with the aim of nothing other than going for a run.
Why? Because I can!
It was very mild this morning and most definitely shorts and T-shirt weather. A bit different from my last run.
I ran without music again but used the Nike Run Club Morning Run with Headspace aka Andy Puddicombe. I’m becoming a fan of these.
The run itself was uneventful, a 4.5km run along my well-trodden path past the Rugby Club and Leisure Centre. But it set me up perfectly for the rest of the day.
I spotted some fungi on the grass verge on my cool-down walk. I didn’t notice them on Friday.
To cap off a perfect start to the morning, my Vitality 10,000 T-shirt and bling arrived in the post just after breakfast 😁🏅

That’s fantastic and love the photos, we’ve not entered any races and realised we have been struggling a bit so easing back for a while, 30 minutes at a time several times a week and see how we go
If you feel you need to ease back then that's what you should do. 30 minutes several times a week is still a laudable commitment, especially with shorter days and work.
I'm not sure if I will enter any more races soon and my aim is to just enjoy a run 3 times a week for a while
Enjoy your running, we realised that although we loved running 8k it took a long time and we didn’t do much the rest of the day and when my next day off came we thought we’d do other things instead and if we stick with 30 minutes we’ll probably run more often hence gaining fitness rather than wearing ourselves out
It's good to sometimes just run without an objective isn't it? Sounds like it worked for you today and how lovely to come back to a bag full of running goodies 😊
Well done on your run Birdlady. Enjoying it is what it's all about isn't it ☺️. Since reaching the magical 10k Ive just been 'going for a run' no distance aims in mind and not even knowing where I am running - these runs are so enjoyable! Got my Vitality goodies today too, so pleased with them 😀.
Hi Birdlady 😁 sounds like you had a lovely relaxed run this morning- not used NRC yet apart from an interval run, but am looking forward to experimenting a bit post magic plan. Hope you find a good place to display your well earned bling and enjoy wearing your T-shirt while the weather permits 🏃♀️😁
Good you how received your well earned bling. I think the " just go for a run" is really nice because you realise you are enjoying it, which for me has taken a while!! Today however, I tried something different. My house is on a hill so I usually use the hill as my cool down or warm up. But today I decided to run round the block to include the run all the way up the hill. I went round twice, totally 3.5k. more exhausting than the previous 12 k!!! I guess it will all help with the fitness but not as enjoyable as " just running"!!!
Thank you. I'm enjoying just running at the moment with no aim other than going for a run.
I live on top of a hill (well moderate incline) and it's quite undulating where I am. It took me a long while to feel as if I was tackling them better.
Lovely mushrooms! I love Morning Run and Another Morning Run. I'm certainly a morning runner and can't seem to run at any other time of the day as easily. As Andy says, it feels very special - like you're getting more of the day than others.
Yes it certainly does make you feel like you are getting the best of the day.
I'll try the other morning runs for sure.
I like running first thing, a bit like I enjoyed my pre work swims, but I actually did most of c25k in the early evening after work. It was nice in the sunshine of summer but I don't think I will enjoy it in the dark
