So, itโ€™s been awhile , lifeโ€™s a little busier and Iโ€™m back to work part time.

Thankfully though I have managed about nine runs I think since I last posted 3/4 weeks ago.

The stats photos are of this mornings โ€˜20 minuteโ€™ run ( talking a leaf out of WillowandSola โ€˜S book here, although as I play catch up on reading posts , theyโ€™ve moved on I see ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)and also of my โ€˜notaParkrunโ€™ 5K of last week.

Chuffed with these runs as they felt comfortable and (for me ) times are good.

Iโ€™m still trying to focus on a slower pace but as I appear to have no motivation or inclination to resume the 10K plan , these were just โ€˜go and run Runsโ€™.

The other runs have been a mixture of 3Kโ€™s ( which Iโ€™m always saying I donโ€™t like but if I call them โ€˜20 minute runsโ€™ I really enjoy them. (Running psychology eh! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ), 4,5 &6 Ks. On the shorter ones I pop in some 20 sec hill sprints and 2 minute speed intervals.

On the plan Iโ€™m meant to do 2 minute hill sprints ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ totally not brave ( or fit) enough for that thoโ€™. I do however enjoy the flat stuff ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚

So a real pick and mix but just glad to be out enjoying the very mixed weather and scenery with no apparent grumbles from my calf ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Photos are of my usual beach ( a day apart , sunshine & calm and then wild and black ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)

These two wood pigeons watch me every morning ( sometimes on my run and morning and evening when walking the dog๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ) from this same trellis. There are a few families of them at the end of the green and the times that I am running I find myself running to the rhythm of their โ€˜Coo,Coo,Coo,.....Coo-cooโ€™ ...Lovely

Thank you for the mention, oh hill sprints, we were following a 10k garmin plan last summer and I loved the hill sprints but then we got bored with the whole thing and gave it up and just ran. I love 20 minute runs even though only cover about two and a half kilometres, iโ€™m going to try fartleks next. Trouble is Iโ€™m a long slow runner and so enjoyed 10k 8k and even 6k but Willow has rather sad knees and they wonโ€™t let him go that far too often, we always start together and shorter runs more often mean heโ€™s not left sitting in the car waiting for me, I think once we get faster on the shorter runs I will sneak out on my own once a week or fortnight, 8k takes me nicely round the outside of the village

Yes I liked the hill sprints but just the 20 second ones not the two minute ones ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜‚I have always liked your attitude to running and I think I perhaps need to stay quite โ€˜looseโ€™ so as not to get bored .Iโ€™m not following the plan exactly now but just trying to mix things in .

I like the 20 mins before work , feels good ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Our village is getting busier with โ€˜Summer peopleโ€™ so Iโ€™m trying to get to the beach with the dog earlier and also run earlier too . I like the peace and solitude ๐Ÿ™‚

I like sunday morning running as itโ€™s quiet, our park was very peaceful until last years lockdown then people had to go somewhere, itโ€™s getting quieter though now with the shops opening, I love the beach but for walking rather than running as even with the tide right out there are patches of slimy rocks. It sounds lovely to run round your way, iโ€™d love to run before work but not on earlier like today i was up at 5.40 canโ€™t imagine getting up any earlier

๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™d like to get to long and slow ( I think) but showing no great motivation beyond 6 K ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™m glad to be enjoying my runs and maybe that will come .๐Ÿ™‚

In the heady days of C25K I was out at 6/6:30 am . Not as sparky these days ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ and my faffing is turning into an art form ๐Ÿ˜‚

I enjoyed reading your update .. glad youโ€™re enjoying it and your calf is behaving itself .. Iโ€™m still frustratingly suffering with mine so Iโ€™ll continue to walk and stretch it out and give it time to repair ๐Ÿ™„

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚, I think Iโ€™m learning to โ€˜lighten upโ€™ and even if I get out for just one run a week thatโ€™s good too ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚These calves are a pest ! I do feel mine tight often but so far it doesnโ€™t affect the run . In saying that if I ever progress beyond 6K itโ€™ll be interesting to see if it comes to the surface๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ At least the shorter runs are letting it get used to running again .

I feel just as good coming in from a 3K as I do a 6 anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Hope you continue to heal well ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ™‚

Variety is the spice of life...so they say, and it sounds like you have been enjoying your pick and mix approach to your runs. Sticking to a plan doesnโ€™t suit everyone, and can be too restrictive if people are back to working in more โ€˜normalโ€™ ways.

Lovely photos...and love your avian musical accompaniment ๐Ÿ˜‚

Glad the calf is behaving so far! Happy running! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿข๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Yes Iโ€™m forever grateful that the calf is playing ball ๐Ÿ˜‚ The birds are just so on song just now but theyโ€™re all flying for cover just now as our weather has been ๐Ÿฅถโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿฅถโ˜”๏ธ

I notice them more on my walks through the woods...or when Iโ€™m on the allotment ๐Ÿฅฐ

Hello Racing! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ

Great to see youโ€™ve still got the habit. Do I gather your calf has continued to be troublesome?

Iโ€™m liking your carefree attitude to just getting out there and running. I need to work hard to adopt this attitude.

Iโ€™m also liking the idea of hill sprints ๐Ÿคฉ Itโ€™s been disheartening to find myself huffing and puffing again up the tiniest inclines and given that I canโ€™t really work on distance right now, maybe hill sprints is the way to go!

Looking forward to having a catch up of your recent posts ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to work hard to be carefree too ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I think with me itโ€™s a generational thing , baby boomer, work hard , always progress, have a plan for improvement etc ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

My best runs are those I enjoy and the runs I enjoy have no agenda in terms of time or distance . I keep forgetting that though when Iโ€™ve done 4K and push on to 5 or think if I speed up this last KM I might have a better time etc. ....hopeless ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

At least take some small comfort that many people do the same thing..! Iโ€™m always disappointed when I finish up a casual 20min run but the distance somehow looks feeble or simply uneven..! I should switch tactics like you and run in Ks instead! ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I was thinking to tell you to run in minutes ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Well, itโ€™s my current โ€˜thingโ€™ anyway, if I do Km I feel more inclined to track my times and speed up .

....and yes, likewise ! having spent much of my time recently trying to get an easy pace and being pleased to achieve it within the run Iโ€™m always disappointed thinking โ€˜oh gosh that was a bit slow โ€˜ when I see the time I did a 5K in at the end of it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ This knowing Iโ€™m not a speedy runner anyway ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

We are such contrary creatures โ˜บ๏ธ

So far these 20 minute runs are feeling nice, taking me round a pleasant loop and dropping me back home feeling good . Iโ€™ll try and do a 5K each week but donโ€™t stress if I donโ€™t ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ And I might if I feel like it try and add a half K onto the 6K Iโ€™m currently stuck on at some point .

Think Iโ€™m slowly curbing the continual need for progress ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but also it could the fear of โ€˜the calfโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜ฐand then itโ€™ll be no running !

Yes a Galaxy ripple ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ, well done you ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Either way Iโ€™m inclined to overthink it ๐Ÿ˜ Though I think I will try to follow your tact and do my best to roll with 20min adventures for a while. If it feels good I might turn it into Ks. Who knows!

Itโ€™s great youโ€™re still doing your thing anyway. Your route always sounds lovely. Iโ€™m excited to explore more of my area over the summer months, more self assured in my capabilities this year.. fingers crossed!
