Sunny Sunday 10k 😎🌞 (with suncream)

β€’36 Replies

Ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper (last year) the daylight had often caused my early waking πŸ™„, and for a large portion of my life I was a sworn morning person..... Fast forward through life..... And that evil thing called a night shift has stolen my mornings grrrrr.

But today I woke, sprightly, and needing to run, not a duvet gremlin in sight πŸ‘.

Weetabix and fruit juice, quick caffeine top up and it's on with the running attire.

The warmer weather definitely makes dressing so much easier, tee-shirt, shorts and socks ( calf high compression socks, bit warm but hey better than a naggy calf muscle)

Quick smear of suncream here and there and it's run time ( dynamic stretching completed)

Remember a drink!

I've been regularly throwing several 5k runs a week, more restful running than those runs of red January 173klm, February was a lazy 88k and March eeeeeek 72k so I'm aware that ok October is still a distance away it's time to get more running in my legs....

So today was a run that had no distance or plan just see what happens kinda thing.

Leaving the village, along the footpath, the first 4k were definitely quicker than I planned 5.53, 5.46, 5.50, 5.31 I blame exited legs 🀣, I'd gotten them under control at 5k and started to relax into my running. The run along the paths was dotted with passing vehicles and many much quicker motorcycles, all making the most of the glorious day. Eventually I arrive at the country Park, where it's definitely busier than of late, but not overcrowded, it's good to see normality returning if we can do it safely 🀞.

The path winds down in the shadow of the huge railway viaduct, and the turns following the course of the River Dee, water definitely looking inviting, but its ok don't look away I'm definitely not a skinny-dipping sort πŸ€ͺ, and this section of the river is notorious for the undercurrents. Its amazing a little sunshine makes the world so much happier, everyone has a smile today πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚.

The legs get a rest at the top of the steps, and I decide, I'm avoiding the aqueduct as it's looking too busy to get across so I'll suffer a last 2 k on the lanes far batter than crowds with ice creams.

Time for stretches and a Cold water and a rest before work.

The legs enjoyed that and the dreaded PLE itch hasn't arrived phew, bonus πŸ‘Œ

Enjoy those runs in the sun people, let's keep them safe and spacedπŸ‘

It’s looking lovely in your part of the world Ian and 🌞 yep, it’s definitely time to start slapping on the suntan cream. My red headed son was caught out this week..... πŸ™„. I’m not reaching for the shorts just yet - it’s still rather chilly first thing here and I’m not brave enough!

It's definitely shaping up well Hidden let's hope the sunshine lasts , and heck get those shorts on

Well done! And what great photos. I put a bit of factor on the face as well this morning, not sure if it helped my run or not! Have a good shift. πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

You didn't have that icy easterly wind with you today then?Sounds like a glorious run in glorious weather. And some glorious photos too!😁

It was less busy than of late in the woods today. I think everyone must be back in the Shopping Centres. But for some people, social distancing definitely seems to have gone out of the window

β€’ in reply toBirdlady64

No wind here today Dianne, chilly in the shade, but generally pleasant, very run able πŸ‘, but living with visitor attractions means those crowds are back 😬

Wonderful run Hidden with more pics of that beautiful place you live and run! You inspired me to ditch the pavement and do a bit of the coastal path. Literally the same bit as I’m keeping it flat at the moment and if I continued on I would be going up an extremely steep hill! πŸ₯΅

β€’ in reply toIndielass00

Well done Sarah you're back after such a long lay off, you'll start to love those trails, especially with the sea nearby πŸ‘

Lovely photos and a lovely sounding run Ian.

I ran on my stretch of canal down south this morning too! No scenic aqueduct here though...so just the usual joggers and walkers. πŸ˜…

β€’ in reply toLottieMW

That's brilliant LottieMW , these aqueducts, they're ok but the crowds they attract is a problem at times

LottieMW profile image
LottieMWAmbassadorβ€’ in reply to

My main problem is cyclists! The towpath is part of a cycle route...and they whizz along and come up behind you with no warning. I’m sure there will be a collision one day...😑😧

Great post and brilliant run! I was convinced you were in Aberdeenshire on Deeside until I saw comments to the effect that you must be in Wales? Probs a few River Dee's across the UK...

β€’ in reply toFionamags

Thanks Fiona, always nice to have one of those perfect runs ( it doesn't happen every time πŸ™„) I keep forgetting there's a River Dee up north as well 🀦
