Ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper (last year) the daylight had often caused my early waking π, and for a large portion of my life I was a sworn morning person..... Fast forward through life..... And that evil thing called a night shift has stolen my mornings grrrrr.
But today I woke, sprightly, and needing to run, not a duvet gremlin in sight π.
Weetabix and fruit juice, quick caffeine top up and it's on with the running attire.
The warmer weather definitely makes dressing so much easier, tee-shirt, shorts and socks ( calf high compression socks, bit warm but hey better than a naggy calf muscle)
Quick smear of suncream here and there and it's run time ( dynamic stretching completed)
Remember a drink!
I've been regularly throwing several 5k runs a week, more restful running than those runs of red January 173klm, February was a lazy 88k and March eeeeeek 72k so I'm aware that ok October is still a distance away it's time to get more running in my legs....
So today was a run that had no distance or plan just see what happens kinda thing.
Leaving the village, along the footpath, the first 4k were definitely quicker than I planned 5.53, 5.46, 5.50, 5.31 I blame exited legs π€£, I'd gotten them under control at 5k and started to relax into my running. The run along the paths was dotted with passing vehicles and many much quicker motorcycles, all making the most of the glorious day. Eventually I arrive at the country Park, where it's definitely busier than of late, but not overcrowded, it's good to see normality returning if we can do it safely π€.
The path winds down in the shadow of the huge railway viaduct, and the turns following the course of the River Dee, water definitely looking inviting, but its ok don't look away I'm definitely not a skinny-dipping sort π€ͺ, and this section of the river is notorious for the undercurrents. Its amazing a little sunshine makes the world so much happier, everyone has a smile today πππ.
The legs get a rest at the top of the steps, and I decide, I'm avoiding the aqueduct as it's looking too busy to get across so I'll suffer a last 2 k on the lanes far batter than crowds with ice creams.
Time for stretches and a Cold water and a rest before work.
The legs enjoyed that and the dreaded PLE itch hasn't arrived phew, bonus π
Enjoy those runs in the sun people, let's keep them safe and spacedπ
