I haven't posted on here for a while as I felt I had nothing new or interesting to share. Just 2 regular runs each week. Work has got busy, so I'm lucky if I fit in one 5-6k run during the week and a longer one (7-8k) on the weekends. But I'm determined not to let that slip.
I'm still aiming for the 2021 London Vitality 10k in May. Are there any runners out there who haven't quite made the 10k yet, but want to by May? I need some encouragement and inspiration!
Happy running all of you

Hi 58! I'm currently working back up to 10k and mostly just on 2 runs a week as well. Either a 30 minute or 5k plus one long run per week. Today I'll do 55 or 60 mins depending on how I feel. I'm also aiming for a 10k event in May - the EMF 10k on 29th May. So we can cheer each other on!
Hey Fionamags - good luck with your run today. I managed 7.5k this weekend - just under 50 mins. I need to step it up a bit if I'm going to make it to 10k!
You must be up in Edinburgh? The London Vitality is on Mon 31 May so a couple of days after yours.
I'l watch out for your posts over the coming weeks 🤩🤩🤩
You're a good deal faster than me - that's a great pace. It takes me around 60 mins to do 7k. Today I only did 40 mins as it was one of those concrete legs days.... Onwards the both of us - we're getting close. I figure I'll have a few 10ks in the legs before the event so hopefully I can work on my time.
Hia 58soon, not sure you saw, but the Magic Plan has now an option for how to extend the training weeks to accommodate only 2 runs per week. Might just be of interest. healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...
Im finally at 9k, and next week I’ll attempt my first 10k as part of the Runderwear festival of running. So it took quite a long time, shifted to 2 runs/week at times, then I stalled between 7-8k for quite a few weeks, but next week I should be there, hopefully.
Thanks so much for pointing me in the direction of the 2-runs Magic Plan. I hadn't seen that, but makes me realise it is possible to get to 10k like that. Really helpful, thank you.
Good luck with your 1st 10k this week - I'll be virtually cheering you along, and look forward to reading your post when you've achieved it!
75+ so have more spare time. My runs are 5 - 5 - 10k with mainly 1 days rest inbetween, sometimes 2 days rest are needed. Whilst just going for a run of whatever distance is fine I've found to maintain or better 10K at 70 mins I've found structure and discipline helps. So if its 5K it is only 5K of either pace or hills.
Hiya, 7.5km in under 50 mins is a good time, well done! I probably do 1 x 10km run a week now, normally a weekend as thats the only time I can fit it in. During the week I mix up doing 5kms, 6km and 4kms and then a bit of yoga and some strenght training, I think it is now starting to help me as my times are getting better and I feel stronger. I mainly use the guided runs and have strada running also as it tells me at every .5km what my pace is so I know when to try and pick up pace a bit. I do find that when Coach Bennett says take it really easy at the start of any run really good advice, I now probably do the first 1km quite slow to get my breathing sorted and feel comfortable whereas before I just started without any real thought for going slowly to start. Im sure that advice is giving me more stamina for the longer runs.
You're doing really well, 10 km is only round the corner for you now!!
Hi HH. Wow - 1 x 10k a week with another run in the week. Sounds like the perfect mix.
I do the same as you - Strava keeps tracking me, and Coach Bennett has been a God-Send, like you say, reminding me to take it slowly at the beginning, and keeping me going when it gets tough. I love it when he makes me smile or say something out loud.... I can feel my whole body relax.
You are doing amazing. Fantastic you are already up to running 8k. you have plenty of time to get to 10k. Are you following Ju-Ju’s Magic plan if not you could use that to work back up to 10k again. How exciting you are doing the Vitality 10k will be cheering you on x
Hi 58soon 😁 for my 10ks, I always use the Nike Run Club guided 10k run, why don’t you give it a go, you can use your own playlist too just like C25k, I find the company and encouragement of a coach really helps. I’ve signed up for the Vitality 10,000 too 👍
Hey CP - you've inspired me to try the NRC guided 10k this bank holiday weekend! No excuses as I have 4 days off work. Maybe that will be an Easter treat to myself before I tuck into some eggs!
For some reason I've avoided actually hitting the 10k mark, as I love the challenge of chasing it, but I think you've made me realise the time has come at last!
Your welcome, Coach Bennett on the NRC will help you sail through 10k and you can have some chocolate eggs then to celebrate and replace those calories 😋
Ha! Now I'm going to have to do it!! That's one of the many things that's so great about this forum. We may not know each other, but we certainly get loads of inspiration from our VRB's!
Enjoy your first 10k 58 soon, it’s a great distance and I’m sure you’ll love it , looking at your times you’ll easily reach the distance. I’ll be doing another 10k this weekend for the virtual Easter Runderwear festival. A real shame the vitality London event has been postponed but hopefully we’ll get to do it later in the year. Happy Easter 🐣
