I am made up that I managed to get to 10k for the first time today, and then managed an extra 1k on top! Hurrah 😃. I was very, very slow, I have to say, and my other half was getting worried I’d been out for so long, but I misjudged where I finished and still had a bit of a walk home. As it’s St. Patrick’s Day today I dug out these old socks which now have a hole in the toe, but they did the job. Last time I wore them was in Dublin for St. Patrick’s Day and they saw some action then too, just not quite as healthy as today’s. I definitely need to rest up now for a bit! Yay 😀.
Lucky socks = 11k!: I am made up that I... - Bridge to 10K
Lucky socks = 11k!
Happy St Patrick's Day to you Frenc and our friend Damien, those socks are very suitable for wearing today, but any other day!!?? 😀
Hey congratulations on your first 10 (11)K 😁👍Feels good dosent it 😬
Oh ! Luv the Sox 👍
Thank you Instructor57! It certainly does feel good - I know we say it a lot, but I honestly couldn’t have imagined it back in November when I started C25K - and this forum is truly so helpful 😀. Sadly I think this was the first and last outing for the socks as they have big holes in the toes now (cheap and cheerful). All the best! 🏃♂️🏃♀️😊
11K?? 😱 *faints*
Ahum, congratulations!
Go get your 10K badge before it runs away!
And what's next? 10 miles? 😜
Thanks Evy! I wasn’t expecting it and was nervous before I went out because I knew I wanted to really go for it today. I don’t think I can manage half a mile to go to the post office now though - I ordered some new running shoes but I need to send them back as they’re not comfortable. All the best 😊.
I feel like that today after my 30 minutes gremlin-run and that was only 3,xx km. I can imagine how you must feel like. Though I think you are already better trained than I am, so I think you'll recuperate soon.
New shoes are difficult. I take it the shops are not open yet with you to get advice on the shoes? I calculated how long I could still do with my old shoes. I used them 5 years ago when I tried running and they have sat in the closet ever since. I found some calculations online where they say that every year decreases the use of shoes with 10%. I started from 1000 km life time for my shoes and then deducted my estimation of how much I ran 5 years ago + sitting in the closet 5 years + my runs now and I will need new shoes at about June / July. Going to a shop then to have my feet measured and my way of running analysed and my old shoes looked at to get their advice on which shoes would be best for me. Although I have to say I would really miss my pink shoes, they are doing their job very fine still 😅
Anyhow, hope the next shoes in your mailbox will be better and will guide you to more 10K's!
Thanks for the reply! Shoes are tricky - but I’ve learnt my lesson (it’s the 2nd pair I’m having to send back). The first pair were Nike which usually fit me like a dream, and the 2nd after lots of research were Hoka, but I wasn’t too impressed. Like you, my current shoes will do me probably for a few months yet. But once the shops reopen on 12th April, I’ll go and get properly fitted and have a gait analysis done. Until then my muddy black Nikes will do the job fine 😀. Happy running 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️.
Congratulation on your 10k! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Well done Frenc that an amazing achievent and love your socks!!!!
Well done for your first 10K (plus one!) feels great, doesn’t it!
Love the socks! I grabbed any old pair from the drawer this morning. When I got back, I noticed that one of them had the letter “L” on it. I wondered why. I looked at the other one and it had “R” on it. It took me a couple of minutes to realise what it meant and that I’d been wearing them on the wrong feet (although they both seemed the same!) 😂
Congratulations on 11K !! Excellent achievement 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Fab socks 😀
